Yes, it seems I should use the address my bank account is with although they want where you actually live.

And how do the agencies know that ?

Only way they would know is if your registered with the council at your dad's.

So if you don't know how much texts and calls will be, how can you know that it will be more?

Texts, callas and data, I think it'll be at least £10 a month. Also a contract gives you the benefit of swapping phones after two years.

Plenty of phones around for £300, a £15/£20 pay monthly SIM only deal would surely give you enough for what you need.

You don't need to spend £600 on a phone.

Aren't sim only deals still a contract?

The phone I want is £599.99 which I could pay. It just depends on the sim part that is my concern.

£20/month sim deal is 240 a year so times 2 that's 480. 480 plus the 600 for the phone is more expensive than the contract lol.

So if it's 10 quid a month across 2 years, how much is that total if you just buy the phone?

So just to clarify the situation.

    I live at my dads.
My bank account is registered at my mums.
I signed up for the electoral roll at my dads but then changed it to my mums yesterday.

    It's just messed.

That's a good point about there possibly not being a record of a credit search because as it stands there's no person to record it against.

Now you've registered to vote, it takes a month or two to update with the CRAs, as will the bank account address change. So have a look in a couple of months at your credit report(s) and hopefully the CRAs can identify you and they'll be no searches recorded yet. Then go ahead and try for the contract.

Ah, a month or two. I'm praying there is no searches recorded yet. So what I need to do is make my electoral roll address the same as my bank address?

    240 over two years + £600 phone that's £840.

but that's only if it actually is £10/month.

That is where research comes in handy, where you take your actual month usage and see what is best for you.

GiffGaff £15 a month goodybag, 4GB data, 1000 minutes, unlimited texts. There are cheaper bundles too which would probably be sufficient.

Over 24 months will cost £960 including the phone. Also gives you the benefit of not being tied to a contract so you can upgrade whenever you feel like it, no termination fees if you find something cheaper, and if you lose your job you can just stop topping up or downgrade your package instead of potentially getting in debt.

you might not like the idea but can your Dad get the mobile contract for you and you pay him each month when the bill comes in.
