Hello all,
So, on the 19th, I turned 18 and wanted to take out a phone contract. So on the 20th, I applied for a contract with EE and got rejected, then I got rejected four more times from o2, Vodafone twice and EE again. This is because third party websites like carphone warehouse wanted to keep trying for me and I said yes but I didn't know this affected my credit score. So now it's probably gone from non existent to terrible.
So, after all this, I was finally told to get a free credit check with Experian so I signed up. However, there was more problems. They couldn't verify who I am and I'm not sure whether this is because my bank account is registered at a different address to where I actually live. My bank account is registered at my mums address whilst I actually live at my dads.
This is all confusing to me, I turned 18 not aware of any of these things tbh and my sixth form didn't say anything about all of this. I would appreciate any advice on what to do next. Thank you all.

Why would your 6th for, tell you about this. Also credit score doesn't matter it's your history.
Wait for least a few months before applying for credit again as all of these applications won't look good. Get your bank account address sorted as well.
Also doing it a day after your 18th birthday may look like your desperate for creditMortgage free wannabe
Actual mortgage stating amount £75,150
Overpayment paused to pay off cc
Starting balance £66,565.45
Current balance £58,108

Schools don't really teach you about financial matters.......which is unfortunate.0 -
Thanks...
So I won't be able to get a phone contract?0 -
Sorry if I'm sounding stupid lol, but could someone recommend what I should do next and whether these rejections will stay on my credit history forever?0

Register to vote at your current address, get the address for your bank changed to your current one. Wait 6 months and re-check your credit report, all being well then try again for the contract.0

The reason why you didn't get the contracts is probably because of the address mismatch and not being able to verify you. 4 searches is likely to scupper your chances for a few months. Are you on the electoral roll ? Get your addresses sorted out before you do anything else then get your reports from all 3 agencies, all available free.

Thank you very much. I just signed up for the electoral roll. I'll definitely follow what you said, thanks again.0 -

How many months do you reckon I have to wait? I desperately want a new phone.
My situation with the addresses is difficult. Do I change my bank address to where I currently live?0
