I saw NG51MON on a Merc today, illegal spacing as NG 51MON made it look just like SIMON.

Or just like 5IMON. Which makes Simon look like a bit of a NG5 7OOL

My name was issued 12 years ago, bought by a builder for over £80K -
    RU55ELL. on a Bentley Continental.

Just remembered about possibly the most expensive that I saw a few years ago in Preston on quite a tatty RR Silver shadow or similar - 1GB.

There's always a car parked outside my partners workplace with the registration plate

    KA6 4ORD

It's a Toyota Auris... is it just me or did they really want a Ford Ka?

The cringiest I ever saw was B16 PEX on a BMW 3-series - presumably a bodybuilder. Got to agree with MobileSaver; the more you have to translate it - the more pointless/desperate it is. The best I've ever seen is 4 NON on a 70s/80s Aston - subtle.

On M6 southbound, just north of J10 I once saw an Audi A6 (I think it was) with F17 BOY, the 7 manipulated to look like a T.
When alongside in traffic my car, full with me and mates on the way back from the football, had a good look at the Adonis of a driver, and all fell about laughing at the "fit boy..." he wasn't too impressed...

A work colleague once pointed out you could make my name from K8 (Kate) or K80 (Katie), I wasn't convinced.
My maiden name was 3 letters long and available on older plates so I could have had my whole name!
    Kate short for Bob.

He must have thought you were laughing at the car so he's bought a different model.

There's no UK plate format that would fit any UK postcode.

You could, at a stretch, perhaps get a digit-for-letter to fit. But that's all.

    AB12 8CD

That's what I meant though thinking about it I suppose it could work with the older format if you tweaked it

    e.g. B85 BTH if you lived at 8TH or EC14 TBB for EC1A 7BB or W14 OAX for W1A 0AX

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
