    Is this a real question?

    They can charge it because they want to. TV recording boxes are not a product subject to statutory price controls.

    It's from £22.

    An extra £10 over what exactly?

    I am currently paying £44 per month for Variety + HD pack with a legacy of F1
    With a "remote second TV upstairs by cable - which on HD was free but on Q appears to cost an extra £12 per month ??
    What would this package cost on Q?

    Looking at sky forums - it appears to be the LNB that is faulty - will Sky try to charge me to replace this ?
    The dish (and LNB ?) are about 12 years old
    If they do - it will be bye bye sky ....

    Had a similar LNB fault about 5 years ago -one of the signals would randomly drop causing recordings to fail - I was out of minimum term so I phoned -didn't even have to threaten to cancel -they sent fitter out for free, but have the cancellation threat available!!:)

    Either:
    Talk to Sky, haggle with them, and likely get a repair for free;

    Take the opportunity to upgrade to Sky Q - you'll need a new LNB and wiring fitted anyway, so the 'repair/replacement' of any faulty stuff is included. Cost unknown, and dependent on what you take. I'm also on the old pack with F1 included, and I wouldn't want to lose it - be careful!;

    OR
    Find a local aerial/satellite man to have a look. If it's the LNB it's a sub £20 part.

    What if I get them out to change the LNB for free and it is something else - say, just the cabling or a connection
    Will they then try to charge me ?
    Or if the box needs replacing ?
  • When our Sky+ box broke, I managed to haggle the following:
    New Sky+ HD box as long as I took up HD BUT they'd credit £120 to my account (i.e. a free year of HD service).

    So I just remembered to cancel the HD service a year later.

    If you've had your box a while and it breaks there is no way I'd be buying a new one. Just quit and they'll offer you a new one.
