This can be solved though if we all just make a concerted effort to NOT let newbies posts get lost so quickly
I think that a sub board will only create a divide, no matter how unintentional.
Ah very good point tigtag!! :money:
DFWs united as one newbie welcoming force!!!!! hear hear! :rotfl:0 -
You see this is what I *dont get* ~ why does there appear to be a need to get rid of the friendliness and camaradarie? Its exactly that which makes DFW what it is!!
I am not trying to be the bad guy here(Honestly). Agree with you there is no need to get rid of the friendliness and camaradarie on here at all. I just feel that people find it hard to post on a diary sometimes as they feel they will not be welcome. I felt the same and when i did post i was chuffed to experiance the total opposite. I am just trying to see both sides of the debate. I remember how i felt when i first joined and am trying to put myself in the shoes of a new poster again.
Lets not forget we are not trying to achieve different things we are all here for the same purpose. To be debt free and to have support and help along the way.

I don't want my diary moved to a sub-board.....I like it exactly where it is (currently on page 3 or 4 I think).

As some one who has been here nearly month, I have found it harder and harder to find the posts I have made and the diaries I read, its like any established forum you join it takes a while to get it in to "things"
I do think the threads - diaries or posts get very very long and many newbies won't be able to read the whole thing ( it took me days to read SS's diary)
I want to start a diary and personally would prefer it on a sub board so that new people can read the stickies on the DFW and not get put off by the huge diaries ( which eventually once your panic stricken question is answered you would read ) and instead get help quickly.
It is such a busy place tho, it is n't like other forums I belong to. I can't believe how many people post each day etc.
I just think a sub board would tidy things up a bit..... but then I am mad about tidying!!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -

But that's exactly the point. People may just go straight to the diaries - and never see the questions."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I see your point but i can find my way around this board (Mr babbage i am not). I have even popped into the Moneysaving arms  . Not had the courage to post yet though. You will find what you are looking for on here no problem. Look at the new forum that popped up regarding floods and flood damage. No interest to me at the time but i found it. I just think that as 'regulars' we need to listen to people like buffy .
I seem to be taking on the mantle here of pushing diaries into a sub forum. I only came on here for a chat. Where's triker gone :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I do enjoy the diaries and i read 2 regular. Just voicing my opinion that's all

ps. Sorrry just re read that and i did not mean to speak about Buffy as if you were not in the room. For that i apologise.0 -
the thing is though if you just come onto dfw and post a frantic post which can be totally understandable if you are in a dire situation you get the question answered or support given you then have the choice to get to know the board better reading a diary is a fantastic way to get to know people...i'm wondering if a newbie would look at the diary sub board though i would imagine they might feel unwelcome (not that i think this happens) and wouldnt want to intrude whereas if it's on the main page they will see the same ones time and time again i.a hypno jcd's (all fantastic for different reasons) and read a wee bit then feel more confident to post i think if they were on a sub forum they would rarely be visited by newbies ...and anyone is welcome to leave a message on mine anytime just drop by and leave a message0

Hi all I'm back, been to visit 'big' school with DD......
Anyway, I kind of agree with everyone which really doesn't help does it?
I do reckon that a sub board would be good for diaries/challenges as long as we all remain totally committed to our special DFW aims, which as ym so succintly puts it
Lets not forget we are not trying to achieve different things we are all here for the same purpose. To be debt free and to have support and help along the way.
Personally I do think a sub forum would be a good idea just because of the sheer size of this forum.....but then as someone said earlier; people post asking for support, advice and then their thread turns into a diary........so it's really difficult to figure out how to play it.:o
OK decision made *Triker put's hand up* I vote for a sub forum.;)
Or *Triker wavers a bit and slowly lowers hand*, why not have 2 sub forums, one for diaries, one for challenges.........:rolleyes:DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

have one for diaries and Challenges and "advertise" it on the main dfw board, a diary is a diary if it says so in the title.
anything else is just s REALLY long thread.Nevertheless she persisted.0
