Bit of a quandry with this one. I am 70% - 40% for the idea of having a sub forum for diarys. I feel, like a lot of people, that new posters threads do get lost in the amount of diary's and can feel left out in the 'clique' of a diary. Sorry if that upsets some people but i remember how i felt when i first posted. You do feel new and like it is your first day at school and it takes a while to build up the confidence to post on these threads. If it was not for a diary ,however, i doubt whether i would be posting now.
If it was to go to a sub forum i hope that all the people who contribute to these diarys do not disappear and the board loses their superb advice
Conclusion - Sub board for the diarys but en suite to the Debt free board.

I can't see how people have problems with reading threads back one or more pages - there's a little thing at the bottom and top with "1 2 3..." and that is how you navigate.
Also it's not like you're going to re-read old threads either. Threads with a message added since you were last on have anext to them - click it to go to the lastest message. If it doesn't have one - then there is no new message since you were last on.
I'm in favour of a sub-board, because it will demonstrate - once-and-for-all - what a bad idea it is."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'

Why is it a bad idea. It's as easy as navigating 1,2,3. Just a click and you are on the diary sub board

I agree with this to the extent that if the Diaries have their own board I think many users will stay in there and off DFW IYSWIM.:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! This can be solved though if we all just make a concerted effort to NOT let newbies posts get lost so quickly
I think that a sub board will only create a divide, no matter how unintentional.:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0 -

i persoanlly think a sub board is a bad idea i like to see the friendliness that goes on in the diaries the support and advice is second to none i also think it's good for the newbies to see that the support goes on till the end not just till their question is answered as i said before earlier on there were only 4 on the front page that's not many at all and i think we can support them0

I personally don't mind whether there is a sub-board for diaries or not, I can see advantages and disadvantages to both options.
One issue I can see though is when does a newbie post become a diary? Because there are some diaries that purposely started off as diaries, but many started as a plea for help and turned into a diary along the way. When does 'support and advice' become 'chat'? I think it would possibly cause arguments if some threads were moved to a diary sub-board and not others.
As a newbie, the diaries were where I looked for inspiration, and are still the places I go to now for new ideas and to give and receive support. I do try and read any new threads that pop up though and offer help where I can, and I do check back a couple of pages too to make sure there aren't any threads that have gone unanswered.
Maybe I'm here at the wrong times (although I'm here at various points throughout the day) but I rarely see a newbie post go unanswered, and if there is one, it's usually because what they are asking is very specialised or complicated, and most of us 'normal folk' don't know the answer.
My feeling is that if you take away the diaries, you will take away the sense of community that makes DFW so special and unique. It will just be a rather dry financial forum. And I think that may be more offputting to newbies than the diaries are.
But I'm happy to be proved wrong if people do feel a change is needed.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

ps. This reminds me of the poll a few months ago regarding 'Saturday night party 'thread.
You see this is what I *dont get* ~ why does there appear to be a need to get rid of the friendliness and camaradarie? Its exactly that which makes DFW what it is!!:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob!
