Look for the GOLDENS SANDS APARTMENTS, around £30 per night, per apartment, situated near centre.

Khizman is unfair to Abu Dhabi, it is a lovely place, from what experience are you basing these strong views of yours regarding the UAE?

Abu Dhabi is a lovely lovely city, far nicer, one could argue, than Dubai in some respects. Dubai these days is a bit like Blackpool, perhaps Khizman is a bit of a Chav.

Anyway Joe_Millionaire - todays temperature in Dubai is 45C, imagine you're cooking your Sunday roast, you open the oven to check on it and your face is a little too close, remember that feeling? That is Dubai in the Summer. If you are happy with that, go ahead and visit the UAE, if you're not a big fan of the heat, I wouldn't go.

    kind regards
    Alex

  • Where can I book the GOLDENS SANDS APARTMENTS for £30 a night?
    Is it 4*?

I need to book a 4* hotel/apartment in Dubai asap as I'm going there this Friday for 5 nights.

My budget is upto £38 a night.

    Thanks,
    G

its nicer to live in yeah and in some ways its nicer
but for a tourist it will be as boring as hell as there isnt much to see there!!!
if i am a chav how can i afford to go to dubai?
also my experience is based on going there pretty much every year as we have an agent for UAE who is based in AD.
    edit-
i am 99% sure he would want to stay in somewhere like blackpool,
we could say AD is similar to a typical uk cityl.

I can stand the heat there but maybe that is because i am so glad to be warm after living on the north east of scotland.

  • Hi,

I’ve managed to locate two 4* hotels which were fairly cheap:

Best Western Dubai Grand 5 nights for £174.00
Pearl Residence Dubai 5 nights for £184.00

I’ll be supprised if anyone can find them any cheaper.

Anyone had any experience of either of the two and has a recommendation?
Does anyone know if its possible to get any other 4* hotel which is around the same price?

I am keen on the Dubai Grand but the city centre is 6 miles away and Jumeriah Beach is 12 miles.

    Cheers,
    G

    Hi Joe,
I have been fortunate enough to travel to Dubai many times, (have family working there) my best advice is ...... dont go in July or August, actually June or September as well. Honestly, you have no idea how hot it will be. Scorchio. Especially if you are fair skinned.
We usually fly from our local airport and change at Amsterdam, it break it up for the little ones. KLM are often the cheapest for us, we choose daytime flight for going, to arrive for bedtime and night returning. They very helpful. I always use Airline-network.com, they often have some reasonable ones that have dodgy stopovers or refueling stops.
There are a few bars .... not heaps. We especially like the Irish Village at the Tennis Stadium.

Please dont book the Golden Sands. We checked it out last year for friends and it was full of Russian Prostitutes !?.
We advise the "Oasis Beach" good standard and reasonable when booked direct online. The obvious Jumeriah Beach is nice but as has been previously said, its looking a tad worn in places.

    Happy hunting.

I have lived in both AD and Dubai.I much prefered AD. I admit it is much quieter and the shopping is not so good, but the hotels and the flights are cheaper. With the money you save hire a car and go to Dubai or even better try drving over to the Indian Ocean side, Khorfakhan or Fujaira. You get a much better flavour of UAE life which you certainly do'nt in Dubai or AD for that matter.Al Ain is nice(with a realy good entertainment centre) and you can go to parts of Oman like Hatta fort without a visa.
Both AD and Dubai bored me to death after a few months and it was only getting away at W/Es that made it bearable. The heat and humidity from May to October is unpleasant to say the least and I had spent most of my working life in warmer climes.
