but imo its prob cheaper to head into the city,
anyone who buys or eats anything in the hotel is a fool, as all hotels are a rip off.0 -
If you stop at a beach hotel check whether they have a free shuttle bus and use this to get into the city for shopping centres, gold souk and eating places. The hotel I stay at has a great service I just ask for there timetable, it runs all day up until 11pm so much cheaper than paying for taxi's.0

This is an excellent thread! Im going to dubai in july
Yes i know it will be hot, but what the heck, should be fun! Im staying in Jumeirah beach hotel (although theyre renovating so hopefylly it wont be a mess). I should have booked the medinat alJumeirah as ive heard its beautiful and more peaceful than Jumeirah beach.
Total price was £850 per person (slightly expensive) as its with emirates...didnt want to take etihad as its a 12 hour journey with them via abu dhabi. that was the cheapest i could find for a 5* on jumeirah beach with sea view and transfers.
Looking forward to it, and some good information on here to help!0 -

im planning the same trip next year ,same time ,same place,so it would be great if you you could post you experiences and tips
have a great time0 -
I went to Dubai over the May bank holiday for 3 days and booked with Airline Network. Price including flights with Emirates and a 4* hotel was £489. The location was on the Sheikh Zayed Road which seems to be central to most places. Taxis are quite cheap - only use the licensed ones of which they are plenty of. Could have done with 5 days though. We booked an evening dune safari which was excellent and included an evening meal in the desert - have a look at https://www.godubai.com for shopping and tours etc.
We did a bus tour which was ok, but the times of the buses were not that great. If you want cheap clothes etc, go to the Karama market where you can get some 'fake' designer goods also.2008 Club Member: 433

Hi Bigup
I am going in August and I always stay at the jumeirah beach hotel, it's a family hotel and is great for my teenager's, as wild wadi (water Park) is free entry whilst staying there. Also ask at the conceige desk for a car to take you to the burj al arab and have a look round at this amazing hotel, again this is free, (you normanly have to pay to visit). Lastly use the free shuttle service and save on taxi's. One other thought take a look at the magazines Time out and What's on, you can usually find them in your room, they will give you a guide to what's happen in dubai that month and always check out the ladies night's, as these venue's give ladies drinks free, so hop from one venue to another. Yes ladies you can get sozzled for free and if you go with your partner it's a buy one get one free night. I have paid £900 each for 9 nights, 2 rooms, direct flight with BA, private transfers and breakfast. I hope you have a great time like we always do and this is of help.0 -

Hi loveabargain
Where did you book that deal - not bad at all?
I assume you are flying from London, given it is a direct BA flight?
Can anyone recommend websites for Dubai deals in August this year?
Thanks0 -

If you fly into Abu Dhabi with Etihad it is less than 1 hours drive to the hotel. Not much further than driving from Dubai airport. No changes required mind you Abu Dhabi airport is not up to much.travelover0
