tummy_tank wrote:Can anyone confirm that when you go through passport control at Dubai airport there is a duty free shop that you can make purchases. i was sure i saw one last trip but don't want to miss out if there is a reason why in coming flights can't buy alcohol.
Also if anyone has used it are the prices as competitive as duty free on homeward bound side i.e flying back to UK?
yes there is a duty free shop nr the baggage reclaim, i use it to buy beer as you cannot buy alcahol in dubai unless you go to a resturant or bar.
couldnt tell you about prices as i rarely check just get what i want and pay for it but i think they are the same but dont quote me lol

I booked with them this year and went in september. Got a good price and had no problems with the booking. However I did confirm my requirements by email to them prior to my booking and all was well. I will be contacting them again for a price next year. I suggest that you shop around and when you have some prices or one that your happy with then give them a call as they will try to beat your best price. Have a great time.0 -
I recommend Travel Dubai as well, I agree with the above post. Get qoutes first then call them as they will beat it. I intend to use them next year as well. Already keeping my eye on flights!0

It seems very expensive.....would appreciate hints/tips for a cheap holiday/flight etc. We would be travelling with our 2 and half year old and 1 year old toddlers.......good suggestions/advice welcome!0 -
ive had a quick look for you the cheapest flights i can find are with qatar air heathrow to dubai for 135 pounds per adult
it works out like this
adult 135 taxes 121 total for two adults 512.40
child 121.20 taxes 121 total 222.20
infant 13.00 taxes 12.50 total 23.20
total fare 757.20
flights are 13th april till 20th
leave london 11am arrive 7:50pm via doha
leave dubai 10:00pm arrive london 7am via doha
hotels i suggest try this small hotel https://www.fusionbandb.com
its run by stacey from south africa and will cater for fammilies at a very good price for dubai.
if you see any other hotels let me know and i will tell you what they are like (or i can always pop round and have a look for you)
a lot of the cheap hotels are worth staying away from with kids as at night time a lot of the bars in the cheaper hotels are just brothels (to put it in a nice way) so it wouldnt be the best place to go for a drink while the kids in bed and at kicking out time the front of the hotels can get pretty noisey
any qeustions feel free to ask

I won two return tickets to Dubain on Etihad airline :j :j :j :j :j and I'm looking to go in November.
Can anyone suggest very cheap accommodation (about £45 per person per night)?
I need a visa to go (South African passport) so can't just fly without prearranged accommodation.:happyhear PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT :happyhear:j Light Bulb Moment 25th March 2007:jAdditions - £118; Barclaycard - £857; Capital One - £255;Citi Finance – £320; G E Capital Bank - £844; Halifax - £522; J D Williams - £243;Month End Money - £134; Monument - £419; Natwest - £471; Pounds till Payday – £277Next - £302; Littlewoods - £1061; Uncle Buck – £164; Welcome Finance - £4572Total Debt as of 29th May 2007 – £10 5620 -
Planning to go to Dubai in late June. does anyone know of any hood deals in hotels at the moment. Would probably prefer staying in the centre rather than the beach.
