I'm on live chat with retentions now. Asked to be transferred as the upgrade person I chatted to could only offer my current deal at a 30% price hike to £13.50

I'm on 5GB, 500 mins unlimited txts (was £10.40 but it's gone back up to £17+ a month).

As prices have fallen this past year across the board (or more data included for similar) I'm expecting much better...

...10GB, 500 mins unlimited txts £11.30 plus 2 months 'free'. I'm late for work so I've taken it. Could probably have held out for more

PS Initial offer from retentions was the same 5GB deal for £11.30. As soon as I quoted 3's deal (8GB for £12) they added on 5GB of data immediately. Worth having other offers to hand ;)

Not the best start, got put through to retentions who offered at first same deal I'm on now as in 8gb, unlimited minutes and texts plus entertainment pass for £20.30 I'm paying £16.20 now!

So second offer without Spotify 500 minutes, unlimited texts 5gb data normally £18.50 now £11.10.

I do use Spotify so think I'll hang on and if I don't get a call tomorrow I'll ring for my PAC code then play the waiting game.

2 years ago I was paying £8.50 for 5gb data (no Spotify) where have the old deals gone!
Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Well several days on and no call from retentions - had expected a better deal by now. I'll have to ring them to ask for a better deal or for my PAC code I guess.

The deals offered didn't seem good to me but not sure about who to switch to as the Vodafone signal is good here.

Hate all these calls trying to barter so might try live chat but don't think they are the best for deals.

You will only receive a call from retention team after pac code is requested. Sometimes a pac code is issued straight away when you are speaking to CS, but retention team will call few days afterwards (mine called 6 days after.)
Live chat deal isn't too bad if you already have other networks' best price in hand to negotiate with them but Retention Team offer is the best.

I'm on a sim only 40GB red bundle which is just a month away from rising from £29.01 (was £28 when I took out) to £35.70, mostly due to the EA discount going from 30% to 15%.

Couldn't make any progress on chat beyond that, only the £25/25GB bundle, which isn't bad, and I haven't gone above 25GB in a long time, but I do sometimes travel in europe or UK and knowing I can tether and use a fair bit is a great backup.

I'll wait until just under the 30 days and request a PAC and see what they offer. TBH I'd have stayed as is if the price had remained around £29 with spotify, but have to act as if I do nothing it will be £36 without spotify effectively!

The 'value' of spotify to me is probably £5/month as I could upgrade son's plan to family... the competition offer similar bundles in the £20-£25 range, so £25-£30 with voda seems fair to me!

  • You have to laugh at some of the things retentions tell you. I was told the £30 bill credit I was offered was double what their manager had authorised and the best they could do, but when I mentioned a deal from Three it suddenly went up again...

In the end, I was bored of haggling and accepted 20Gb/unlimited texts & calls for £16 a month with a £40 bill credit.

I've been quite happy with Vodafone as a network and this deal removed the hassle I've had this year claiming cashback etc.

I decided to leave Vodafone after they wouldn't match the deal from ID network. Changed a few months ago and I find the reception in my house is even better than Vodafone - very surprising.

I ended up buying a phone (iPhone X) outright then adding a SIM only package - they've just done a pricing update actually - even better deal than I got! Maybe I should call up to see if they will match it.

I've been having issues with a new contract with Vodafone and am currently 'reset' to my old contract which is now out of contract. I was surprised at how little they try and retain customers, the opening deal they offered was basically the same for new customers, and even asking for a PAC code and saying I had a (real) better offer elsewhere they only budged a little. Spent half an hour telling me what a fantastic deal it was, and how lucky I am to be offered it, and still can't get anywhere near comparable prices from other networks on the high street.

Just checking mobile coverage now to see what other networks are like.

I was surprised to be able to get what I felt was a decent deal in a single call! Perhaps I was just worn down after battling sky and virgin, so let this one go!

    40GB/unlimited/unlimited/spotify for £27.40
Cheaper was virgin (as a customer) at 25 for unlimited, but EE is poor at work and in various places I visit
Also cheaper was three (22 for 30GB, 27 for unlimited) but similar coverage issues
Neither included spotify (£10 worth, though with another family member using it my net saving would only be say £5)
All in all I felt this was not 'amazing' but was fair....

Oh one tip - leave it until 30 days before. I'm sure the offers will be better as you're in your PAC code/no fee window!
