I finally got a reply from them, unfortunately an unsatisfactory one. I've sent them a counter offer, i'll keep u guys posted on what they have to say, im not holding my breath though as after the offer he basically said if you reject this offer i will take it as a written notice to cancel your contract.

One question though, if I request my PAC code from VF can I then go onto mobiles.co.uk and get a new vodafone contract there. I've heard you can only retain your number if you transfer networks, is that correct.

What you can probably do is transfer it to a pay as you go sim from an alternative network, take the contract through mobiles.co.uk and transfer it back to vodafone.

  • Vodafone's user account site really is terrible isnt it? I can upgrade from today so I click on 'Upgrade Phone' I select my number from the drop down. It then takes me to another page where I have to enter all my info including my phone number... It then tells me

'Sorry. You'll have to wait a little longer before you can upgradeFor more details of when you can upgrade, simply login to My account.'

So instead of just giving me the date when I can upgrade (although it is actually the 10th Feb - today) it wants me to go back into 'my account' where the only option is to go through this whole process again. The site amazes me.
  • I see Vodafone have changed from 60 days to 50 days. So thats why. Oh well, great. Great site though..
  • I requested my PAC since my half price 'no-handset' contract of £8 a month ends at the end of Feb and I think better value exists elsewhere for my internet/text heavy usage on SIM-only.

Was told over the phone after making the request that the PAC is now only valid for 15 days whereas I thought it was 30. Is this new?
    "Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

  • Grrrrrrrrr

Just rang vodafone as I was looking at leaving them. I was on a £10 sim only deal for 18 months. having just spoke to them they tell me that I was in fact on a £20 tariff that was discounted. Guess what, apparently for the last 3 months of your contract you dont get the discount. But they havent told me that. Robbing b457ards! ( in fairness though she did say she would add £10 credit to this months bill, feel less annoyed when I see it! )

thank god Im off to get a better deal elsewhere! free internet :-)
  • Thanks to all the posters - Following advice from this forum, 30 days before my existing "term end date", I sent Vodafone a notice of cancellation email. I then sent another email (quoting MM135) explaining that I am looking for the best N97 mini deal, with 300 mins, text and internet, in the market.

When Helen, from Vodafone, phoned me; I asked if she could better the T-Mobile deal (currently the best deal on the market for my needs). She did better it, matching the T-Mobile deal, ie £25 per month over 24 months, and adding an 8gb card.

If I can offer any advice it would be, do the research, decide what you want, find comparable deals and be realistic (the great deals that were around a year or two ago no longer seem to exist)

Webbi, same type deal i was after but trying to get them to match same offer as Beepy website. Again, N97 mini at £25 per month, 300 mins, 300 txt and unltd internet, but only 18 month contract + they give £80 cashback (redemption) + £40 through Quidco = equivalent of £18.33/month over 18 months. Have gone through this with them and best could offer was £25/month so have requested PAC last night. May as well move over to T-Mobile. I have also received 4 calls today from vodafone, but as soon as i answer there is no reply just hangs up - how annoying is that, thanks for helping make my decision much easier vodafone.

    Hi There

chilly9876 - As an upgrade can be very account specific I won't be able to go over this on the forum with you. I also wouldn't be able to confirm what other customers received or why.

If you'd like us to look into this further for you, I'd be happy to. Feel free to reply to our last email and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

consumers_revenge - When we arrange for discounts on price plans as part of an upgrade they almost always stop in the last 3 months of your contract so that they don't interfere with any upgrade quotes when you come to renew you contract. This is something that you should have been advised of at the time

So that I can look inot this further for you could you send me an email from here with a link to this thread and your username? Make sure when you send it you include the code WRT135 in the subject so that it comes straight to us.

Tuddsy - I'm not sure why these calls are dropping as soon as you answer. If you'd like me to I can either arrrange for these to be stopped or arrange for a callback from my team to be made. If you would like me to do either of these things just drop me a quick email following the instructions above and I'll get back to you.

    All the best

Surely a change like that would only apply to new contracts as when i have upgraded in the past they have always thrown in the "and you can upgrade 60 days before the end of your contract" so it is part of the contract you are agreeing to?

I have just checked my account and i am also being told it is now 50 days, can they do this when as explained this would surely have been part of the T&Cs when the contract between myself and vodafone was made?

    ---

I've just called up and the recorded message is telling me its 60 days.
