You can definitely do better than that. See my post on the previous page. I got offered the same amount of minutes and texts for £18 for 18 months with a better spec phone, not as good as 5800 or N96 though.

Thanks. The plan suits me (saves me £8 on what I've got now 200mins + 500 texts - don't use anywhere near) but think I'll take the Nokia 6210 he also offered me (lifelong Nokia fan) - looks like a decent phone actually though I didn't like it when I first saw it.

Hmmm just called to request my PAC after speaking to the obnoxious woman last week.

Chap said he'd do 150 mins + 500 texts for £20 (good so far) but with the Samsung Steel (I wanted a Nokia 5800 or N95/N96)

    Hmmmm decisions.

Whatever you do don't trust Voda as they are a bunch of liars.
I was verbally offered a 18 month deal on Samsung Steel 250 mins + 100 texts.
    I was offered:
    15 months half price (of £25) £12.50 x15 = £187.50
    3 months full price = £25 x 3 = £75.00
    £50 credit to my account = -£50.00
    Totaling £212.50 divided by 18 = £11.81 per month

I accepted the deal and ported my number to them.
Then the fun began as when the paperwork came I found that it was not what I was offered.

    The paperwork was:
    15 months at full price £25 x 15 = £375.00
    3 months half (of £25) £12.50 x 3 = £37.50
    NO CREDIT ON MY ACCOUNT
    Totaling £412.50 divide by 18 = £22.92 pm

Needless to say I was horrified so I rang them.
I was told that they will revert the discount that was offered but not the £50 credit.
According to Voda, the obnoxious woman who gave me that deal should not have given the £50 credit to my account as that deal was for last year only.
As it was within fourteen days I asked for my PAC code.

Then I got a phone call from their retentions and said that yes, now they will honour the deal which was first agreed.
I told him that I'm not NOW verbally agreeing to anything until I have in writting.

He then sent me this e-mail:

    Mr *****
Please see below our offer of a new upgarde
Samsung steel (L810) free of charge
250 minutes anytime any network + 100 texts - £25.00 with 15 months half price
    £50.00 credit on your bill
    18 month contract
If you would like this deal please e-mail back and we will send you a letter to confirm you may also print off this e-mail as proof of the deal
    Thanks **** @ Vodafone

I replied with a copy of this mail that I accept the offer.

When I hadn't received their reply (as I was concerned about the lapse of the Pac code) I was told no such credit can be given and now the deal was straight without any discount.

SO IF ANYONE STILL THINKS THEY CAN GET A DEAL GET IT IN WRITTING.

EVEN THEN I WOULDN'T TRUST THEM.

    SO MY ADVICE:

KEEP AWAY FROM VODAFONE AT ALL COST.

    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

vodafone have matched the plan I was moving to so sticking with them to avoid the paperwork hassle.

    free nokia 5800
    600 mins
    unlimited texts
    free internet
    passport
    18 months
    £23/month

Fingers crossed nothing gone wrong but I've taken note of the operator's name, time and date it was agreed.

The original plan was less minutes but vodafone agreed to give me a discount on their standard contract. This is a member of the 0808 number who are allowed to give bigger discounts than the normal upgrade ones. I also missed 4 calls and brought up all the other customer service issues I've had with them previously.

The best deal I found was on mobilesplease, £45 cashback quidco
    combi25 + web n walk
    300 minutes, 600 texts, £30 a month, cashback (total cost= 540. one step claim, £110, £23.88/month before quidco)
    18 month contract

surprise surprise, rang vodafone this morning (due to excessive paranoia) and they can't find a new phone or a new contract deal. Apparently there is nothing showing my account and the call I received yesterday had no details logged in it.

One last email today and I am signing up to another company, I don't care if it's more expensive. I'd rather have the hours of my life back.
