The T&Cs on the form stated 50p minimum interest, but BCs systems were obviously not set up to implement it (not expecting everyone to only spend £1 a month I guess.

Unfortunately they have now changed their systems so it is 50p a month from now one.

I too have been charged 50p interest on a spend total of £8 i.e. 75% p.a. after months of being charged 1or 2p
Barclays say it is in the new terms and conditions?

    SO FIGHT BACK.

50p represents monthly interest on £52.11.

SO rush out and take your purchase balance to this amount ! and stop them taking unfair "profits"

I have been moneyspending/saving since 1959 so I applaud Martins efforts in this increasingly complicated
    corporate moneygrabbing world.

p.s. apologies if necessary as this is my first post.

I'd advise against this - If you spend £1 a month after taking your "spend balance" up to this amount, the interest will rise above 50p. Better to just keep to the £1 min spend each month.

  • Sorry Ian I disagree, like MARTIN, I don’t like being overcharged.

But it is a personal decision, So  the reasons for my idea:-

Card charges and payment details (as we have discovered over the past few months) vary considerably (even on same card), on type of card, deals at time and place of application, credit rating and even the person you speak to.
My post was as a result of the shock I got opening my Jan. statement. A tenfold increase in the interest charges in one month! Well my warped logic immediately told me,” if they are going to charge me for £50 I haven’t spent, then I’ll spend £50 in retaliation”.
I have since done some calculations and it seems we could have spent £50 in the first month ONLY, and effectively got a £50 loan at a very good interest rate, depending on the time you want (or need), to pay off your 0%BT. The interest you pay will naturally increase the longer this takes, but only reaches 7+%apr after 5YEARS, on a sliding scale from around 1.5% at end of first year( by my reckoning). So depending on the amount of your B/T see if it’s ok for you by going to link below.

    Details in http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=BCC;action=display;num=1074807802for anyone interested.

Sorry Ian for the delay in reply as I am only just finding out slowly how to operate this new fangled device. ( took ages to find the j key!).

    GOOD LUCK MONEYSPENDERS.
Still expecting to have to post doh!!

  • I saw a few earlier posts in December and unfortunatley I missed them and it is probably too late in the day, however in the hope of extreme possibility, if anyone out there has a form for the 0% barclaycard £1 spend, Please! Please! Please! consider sending it to me.

I do appreciate this may be mindless optimism, but you have to try.
