  • Haven’t felt well today. Did a lft which was negative. Walked the dog & wore lots of layers including my thermals, forecast was -6 here last night and parts of the local pond were frozen 🥶 supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow.

DS & gf walked the dog this afternoon so I just rested after work. Glad it’s Friday.

You need a good rest this weekend, stay wrapped up and take it easy.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • Fell asleep on the sofa after dinner. Have had a nice warm shower & hair wash and foot pamper tonight.

Energy bill is available already after posting my meter readings online. Monthly direct debit £95. 22 Dec to 21 Jan useage including vat £104.45. Credit remaining £221.58.

Have eaten so much today feel greedy! breakfast 2 slices of toast and mar mite. Lunch pasta bake. Early afternoon Snack jacket potato and tuna. Dinner meatballs in chill sauce with courgettes and peppers. Bar of chocolate and bag of pork scratchings.

Decluttering = plastic packaging thermals came in. Bin day so all bins emptied and recycling put out. Will try to do more tomorrow.

Puppy dog has been sick tonight. Hopefully just something she ate.(again!).  Will see how she is in the morning.  If she’s ok it will be a gentle walk. Then I have to go to the Chemist for my prescription. House moving friend has invited me over for a chat and a baileys tomorrow afternoon, so I look forward to that and hope she has finally exchanged contracts. They’ve been trying to move since before the stamp duty holiday! They have had some really bad luck, so fingers crossed it is finally going through 🤞

Blame it on the weather, the body needs a bit more meat on it to naturally cope with lower temperatures.

Fingers crossed she's exchanged, we've all got fingers and toes crossed. Enjoy the Bailey's and hopefully PD is feeling better.

  • Much warmer here today but v grey. Walked the dog & bumped into friend with 2 dogs so walked on with them. Rested for a while then walked to chemist & collected my meds. On to see friend this afternoon and they have exchanged 🥳 Celebrated with a baileys 😁

Home again and a couple of hours snoozing on the sofa. DS & his gf did 2nd dog walk. Puppy dog seems ok today. 🐶😁

Cleared 2 bags of stuff for charity shop from the utility room where they have been since lockdown started & put them in the boot of my car so at least they are not in the house 😆 I will take them and donate them on my free morning next week when I am on a late shift. Will do more tidying tomorrow

  • Have been looking at my state pension today with help from the pension board on MSE. I’m glad there are so many knowledgeable people on here. I have 37 years full contributions, and COPE, I have learned so much. I am entitled to full state pension even if I pay no ni from 57 to 67 when state pension starts.

  • Walked the dog this morning, no frost.

Bought bacon and eggs from co op yesterday so I have had some for breakfast on a bread roll from the freezer. Lunch will be last chicken breast from the freezer and roasting the last parsnip, potato & butternut squash. Broccoli from the freezer. May also make some yorkshire puds. My house moving friend gave me a bag of flour yesterday.

I have finally managed to log into my mortgage online after changing my log in details twice yesterday I managed to reset again this morning and use the last attempt to log in before I would have been locked out. What a faff!

    mortgage balance £21256.89
    redemption date Oct 2030.
    2.1% £221.30 per month.

If I can’t sell the house before my job ends in 3 years I should be able to pay off the mortgage. Assuming DS & gf are still here then they will have to pay rent as well as their share of the bills.

Great news about your friend and PD.
Just keep an eye on the NI in case gvmnt change requirements again, it's worth having a few £k spare to top up if needs be.
Do you get a lump-sum from your pension as that could be used to clear the mortgage.
    Food looks yummy.

  • I have been going over pension and mortgage figures and possible redundancy plus savings all day and feel like my brain is going to explode 🤯

The plan is to sell and downsize. Then live off equity, redundancy, savings and small pension for 10 years until second pension and state pension start. If I can get a very part time job that will help.

Also been looking at alternatives if don’t sell & whether DS & his gf move out or are still here. Redundancy is not likely to be enough to pay off the mortgage despite working for the same company for over 30 years. 😕

Have had my roast dinner 😋 am going to try and relax now. I did some more tidying in the utility room while dinner was cooking. One bag of rubbish out. Made a space to store a couple of boxes of fragile breakables for house moving friend until she has moved in 2 weeks. She doesn’t trust the removal company with these items and doesn’t have room in her car with 4 of them & a dog on the day 😆 Also storing her tortoises in our shed for her 😁🐢🐢they are currently hibernating.

I think you will be fine, based on a quick calculation.
You'll owe 3 years less on your mortgage and have maximum redundancy, plus outstanding holiday pay. Your 25% of pension would clear the mortgage, if you decided to retire.
If you decide to look for PT work, the 'keep' from DS and GF would cover the mortgage.
The big part of your plan is not knowing whether it will be the three of you or if DD and GF have moved, allowing you to sell up and move too.

Keep saving and reassess everything again in a year.

Hope your friend has another bottle of Bailey's for after the move, you're both going to need it!
