  • Get together with the other houses that are affected, when the invaders move out to do a job, you all move in and fill all the spaces.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

I've recently helped someone install some lockable bollards into some visitor bays, properties 16-20 had access to these bays but no one else ( due to the limited parking at those four properties) umbers 16-20 have keys so that if a visitor come and needs the space its available on a first come first get basis, all in all it works quite well.

I would avoid at all costs involving a parking company that issues tickets to non permit holders, as such companies will open a can of worms that could seriously affect those who employ them. I usually lurk/post on the private parking sub forum, take a look there and search under Own space to see just what problems can arise.

Which is great, right up until one of the self-appointed guardians of the spaces decides to start over-reaching themselves.

Remember, the OP has just as much - or as little - right to those visitor spaces as the people currently (ab)using them does. No more, no less. They have just as much say in whether to install spaces, and who has access to keys, as their neighbour does.
  • I agree I am not going as far as putting posts up as I believe it can be sorted well before that.

However in terms of right I have more right than the Neighbour abusing it as I am part of the block of houses that has it in their deeds that we have the right to use those Visitor spaces and the Neighbour abusing it does not.

Just to be sure I have also downloaded their Title Register and unlike ours which mentions rights to use the Visitor spaces, theirs does not. However as a next step I am going to contact the Sales person at Miller who oversaw this site and see what they say as should have some sort of knowledge of what right they have.

I also checked another area of spaces which are like ours but there's is a set of flats which are owned by the local Council association so may be different to ours and why they have a Residents sign only and we do not.

    Hello New Guy,

Forgive me if these questions have already been answered but:

Have you spoken to the other residents in the other houses / flats, to seek opinion?

If visitors want to park, and these are now being used, where are the nearest parking facilities?

As these residents two doors away park in the visitor bays, if the residents stopped using the bays, where could / should they park instead?
Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!
  • The issue is a house 2 doors down which has a driveway and a garage and no allocated bays in this parking area have started parking both their business vehicles in the visitors spots.
Are you certain that the van owners don't have any friends in any of the houses or flats that own these visitor spaces? If they do, they could claim that they are "visiting" their friends and so are legitimately parking in the visitor spaces.

she never moans that disabled bays are full of what appears to be able bodied people......
While I have no time whatsoever for able-bodied people who abuse disabled parking bays, be aware that not all disabilities are obvious, and that some of those people who "appear to be able bodied" may have a disability which affects their mobility.

Am I missing something? OP, you have had several suggestions as to what you can do, but surely the first thing to do is to go and speak to them!
I don't understand why you're putting yourself through the trouble of checking deeds, coordinating with neighbours, making signs and so on, when the obvious thing to do is to speak to the people politely. They may do as you ask and not park there. Problem solved without all the stuff you're considering. If they don't, you're no worse off.

Not all but some and getting irritated with it like me especially the ones in the flat as they only have 1 permanent space. As we only have 1 car at the moment I have said they can park in my spare space but this should not have to happen so they can get away with it.

They could park right in front of there driveway at least one of their cars and the other would have to be down the road just like visitors do when they visit. I understand garages nowadays are sometimes not big enough or not used for cars anymore but as they decided to have vehicles then they have the space to say stick one car in the garage, one on the drive and another on the road in front of their house.

Yes I am 100% certain as these are new build and the funny thing is out of all the houses on that street this family are the only ones who do not really speak to anyone as opossed to the rest of us who chat quite often

No you are not missing anything and funnily enough I have been washing my car today and the fella came round to get his car so I said to him

"You know these are visitor spots and for use by visitors to any of these properties with a permanent bay?".

He said: We do not park here that often

Me: Well you do as you are in there everyday I am Working From Home, every evening I come back from work and all the time at the weekend?

He said: Well it is not hurting anyone and if did not park there we would have to park down the street

Me: Okay so you are going to carry on using them then so you are not putting yourself out

He said: Yeah and not hurting anyone

Me: Okay well I have given you the chance to sort face to face

He said: What does that mean?

Me: Well I am putting signs up next week as to who can use them and if you persist in being inconsiderate to others for your own gain then I will take measure to stop it

He just said okay and walked off

So maybe could have said different things but apparent he does not care and knows he is doing wrong
