No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries - February 2017

No more ins but I found a bottle of Avon shower cream that I'd been hunting for, limited edition salted caramel and almond. This was a gift from a friend at Christmas. I'd put it in a safe place to take upstairs and forgot where the safe place was.
I tried it this morning and it was lovely, lots of lather and a sweet scent that really is salted caramel and almond. It's the sort of novelty scent that one can tire of fairly quickly, so it won't get used at every shower but it will certainly be used.
I have repurposed a very expensive manuka honey facial mask (one of those wipe off creams) to use as foot cream. I was using it overnight, tried it last night and really couldn't wait to wash it off this morning. Life's too short to use stuff you don't like, and it was a NBI so foot cream it is.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... The scarring does get me down though. It's odd as I had acne throughout my teens and 20s but it cleared up for a few years. It then came back again 6 months ago and I haven't changed anything (diet, skincare etc). Pretty sure it is hormone related.
The best thing to do is make a call and have a chat with a gp. There is loads of options, creams, lotions and potions available. There is no need to be embarrased at all, sometimes we all need to ask for advice from a doctor. Hopefully you get some good advice. Don't let scarring get you down as a few months of the right product can make a massive difference, you would be surprised at the amazing changes in texture and pigmentation that are possible.0 -

Did you find your doctor sympathic about it? I've heard you have to really go on about how badly it makes you feel or they disregard you. I know my doctor is particularly blase about everything whenever I go, no matter what the issue.
I had terrible dry skin on my face that bleed when 24 and resolved only by a really strong professional peel that cured it for years. I recently developed what my enthusiastic doctor thought was rosacea and while the red spots and blisters have reduced, I still have scarring at is localized on my nose. I developed a real concealer habit to hide it.
Some doctors have a special interest in respiratory medicine and others have an interest in dermatology. I have the option to get fast access to prescribers, who charge well but are serious about getting their patients better. After a year or more of serious health issues a while back, I learned that a great team of doctors and consultants are a invaluable and can help a return to health. If your doctor does not take you seriously get another or ask for a referal (I know I did !).
If you can afford it try and see a dermatologist, a lot of time what they recommend is inexpensive but the advise and outcomes can be brilliant. It can save a fortune on stuff that is not working. Unless you have had a difficult time with your skin, I think it is difficult to have empathy unless you have been through it yourself. Sometimes you find a doctor who just gets it, however you find they do into specialized practice.0 -

No, not really. Oddly enough, I have found the men I know with acne get a much more sympathetic response than the women. I don't understand that given that women are still judged far more on their looks than men. I think he is also at a loss because of my eczema, dryness and sensitivity. It means so many of the conventional treatments are off limits.0 -

Nuxe Precious Scented Shower Oil 30ml - WNB, this was not an oil it was a shimmery, very thick gel, the shimmer is pointless and overall it didn't lather well. Did smell lovely though.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
