    Welcome LEJC.

No uu's but do have two ins

Avon Pomegranate & Peony Bubble Bath 1L - only £1.50 each and they are super bubbly and very good value.

Painted my nails last night with Revlon Cherries in the Snow. My nails are filed quite short and they do look very pretty in this colour, better than when they are long. I remember Joan Collins saying that short dark nails are very classy.

maddiemay - thanks yes I love Caroline hirons, will have a read back through and refresh my memory about what she says about retinol.

Savingfortomorrow - thanks, I probably should go to my gp I just feel a bit embarrassed as I know my skin could be a lot worse. The scarring does get me down though. It's odd as I had acne throughout my teens and 20s but it cleared up for a few years. It then came back again 6 months ago and I haven't changed anything (diet, skincare etc). Pretty sure it is hormone related.

I've been experiencing the same thing, when I was a teen/early twenties I'd get spots on my chin and forehead but they would go. Now I get massive spots that stay on my cheek for over a week, and they don't go down. They scar really badly and leave a raised area behind. As soon as I feel the lump my mood plummets because I know it's going to be on my face for the foreseeable future! I've been getting a peel-type facial (they're not allowed to call them peels anymore) and it has helped with the scaring and the raised area, but I still get a spot every 2-4 weeks. Pretty sure mine's hormonal too as I had other symptoms develop around the same time. If my skin doesn't get much better within 6 months or so I'll be going to the docs, whether it's one spot or 10 when they scar it's depressing :(

Sorry to hear you have been suffering too. It's really frustrating isn't it. I seem to get spots that are under the skin too and painful, they always leave a mark. I seem to get them on my neck and bottom of my cheeks?

If you have other symptoms too definitely think it could be worth a trip to the G.P.

Well I was naughty yesterday ordered a new Primer (which will be needed very soon). I had previously been using and loving the Gurlian L'Or primer which was a shocking £47 for 30ml, and had sworn to buy something cheaper next time. I had a free sample of the Murad Invisblur and loved it unfortunately it is £55 for 30ml. Ordered this yesterday with 20% making it £44.

I've gone back onto contraception to deal with the other symptoms (don't want to be too graphic lol!) and hoping that it might help my skin. It's still early days though.

I get them in the middle of my cheeks near my cheek bone, I don't mind spots it's the scars that get me down, because it looks like I still have active spots when I don't. Mine are painful but never come to a head - those that do go down eventually. It is frustrating, I start comparing my skin to other people's - "oh it's ok because she has a spot it's not just me!". :(

I see you mention liquid gold - I actually really like this and think it does help with old scars and smoothing the skin. It's best to use it on rotation though, I think it stops working so well if you use it constantly. I use it every other night/every 3 nights for a month or two, then leave it for a month, then repeat. When I had better (less acne-prone) skin it still helped for smoothing and gave my skin a glow.

I have had the same problems too. If my friends are anything to go by it seems very common in 30something and older women. Yet if you read a lot of the advice about acne they don't seem to recognise that it happens to anyone over 20!

The problem is I actually have very sensitive, dry skin and eczema. All the acne treatments, even the ones from the doctor, make my eczema and sensitivity flare up really badly. Hormonal breakouts can happen to people without tough oily skin and yet no one seems to address this. I did try the pill, but ended up with worse spots. Arg!

I'm 26 but this all started when I was 25. The more I read about it the more I realise just how common it is, but people don't seem to talk about it as they (we) are all too ashamed! I know for me I feel very badly about myself when my skin is bad.

Did you find your doctor sympathic about it? I've heard you have to really go on about how badly it makes you feel or they disregard you. I know my doctor is particularly blase about everything whenever I go, no matter what the issue.

Re the acne topic, have any of you suffering googled 'acne face mapping', it tells you what is causing the spots in specific areas, might be worth a look?
