Wow how quick this ship is sailing.

Finally it has happened a SFD my first woo hoo. Electrician came, going to do jobs next Sunday except my extractor hood which needs a new motor. Gutted as not that old and looks lovely. Just the noise it makes is horrendous will look into costs tomorrow.

Rest of day spent with socks, cardboard box, paint and bit of glue. Puppet theatre made together with snake, puppets, crocodile. Looking good happy gs and free. Used up leftover turkey breast for lunch scrummy. Didn't make it out with demanding baby, overtired gs and hungover dd so film afternoon. Eddie the Eagle so good even 5yr old loved it.

Back playing up today so had wee walk this evening.

    Grateful for
    Having family living locally
    Gorgeous bath for aching body
    laughter

MY fetish for onion soup is James Martin's fault, drooling over TV. Personally I would focus on him Mothernerd :-)

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hello Turtles

Been at work quite a bit this weekend off and on. Came back today with another successful booking for £100 from a nice couple, and £50+ of free booze. Can't complain too much :)

    Gratitudes

    1. Plenty of good time spent with the family despite working too. Cooked them a roast, did the park yesterday, watched some movies, had lots of cuddles.
    2. Having enough.
    3. Starting to feel the elusive work life balance.

    Night

  • Went to the jumble sale yesterday (1st one of the year) and managed to get the dogs some cuddly toys to pull apart - we always wait until near the end so all the kids have a chance to grab cuddly toys to give a good home to and then the old and tired looking ones come back with us. Got 11 cuddlies for £2.
Also got some bits from the cake stall including home-made lemon curd (I know it's easy to make ans should really give it a try) and that was it - usually try to get some clothes but they didn't have many (surprising for a jumble).

Also made a GF marmalade cake and some normal choc chip buns while tea was on. Used up the last of a jar of marmalade and 2 opened choc chip packets. Still have about 5 jars of marmalade left!!

For someone who doesn't like marmalade, it tastes amazing - there is a hint of marmalade on the sticky edges but other than that it just has a nice flavour. Have enough marmalade for another 30 at least!!

Thanks for marmalade recipes, foxholes - the one with sausages sound nice as we have our own home-reared pork sausages and they should compliment them nicely.

Today has been a NSD - DD announced at 3pm that she needed items for cookery at school but no time to pop to shop so will get it all while I am at work tomorrow.

Also managed to get washing hung outside - towels and bed linen that dried well - just put on airer for a few hours early evening to get damp off.

    Today I am grateful for:
    1. The lovely weather allowing the washing to dry and us to get outside to do some garden jobs.
    2. Being able to cook - I love to cook for my family and am pleased they enjoy what I cook (nothing fancy, just normal basic food)
    3. Getting YNAB up to date (although it is not balancing so need to sort it this week)

    NSD today. Yay.

Won't be tomorrow. I'm running out of some bits.

Off to bed - long day tomorrow. Including hopefully running club. Fingers crossed I can improve on yesterday's dismal performance.

  • Hi shipmates!

    NSD 2 today.

DS played rugby this morning. Unfortunately his team didn't win, but they were all new/younger players and the other team were twice their size! But they played really well and I am incredibly proud. Took hot drinks in travel mugs so no spend needed there. DH asked to get a drive through on the way home but thankfully I had left my purse at home so it was a big fat NO!

We were home in time to watch the Wales game and we feasted on dolphins (that sounds so wrong!) while we watched it.

Only batch cooking today was carrot & (ys) swede mash. Made a roast chicken this evening and have plenty of meat left to use up in the week.

    Today I am grateful for:
DS giving his all on the rugby pitch and making me so proud
Wales waking up for the second half!
    A lovely sunny day

Not a SFD as I went to a charity coffee morning and spent the money I wanted to donate. I bought cakes which I took to my family, as they weren't gluten free and entered the raffle.

    Today I am grateful for:-

    - getting all my school work and most of my housework done
    - lovely charities that support good causes
    - my family for cooking me dinner tonight

    Hello,hope you've all had a good weekend.
Was going to do allsorts of things yesterday but a lovely neighbour asked me out to lunch. Her treat. By the time we had eaten and put the world to rights,it was too late to do much :rotfl:
Today I made the soup I was going to make yesterday and a quiche with some more leftover bits.
have hospital appt tomorrow so that's meals taken care of in case I'm late back.
Last 2 days have been NSD so 3 so far.
Does paying for transport to hospital count as a spendy day?

Still on only 4 NSDs, I was tempted whilst I was out. Think I had gone too long without eating (used to take bananas out with me but haven't any now). When I got back I found I had taken my bangles (lucky charm) off when I went in the bath and forgot to put them back on.

As soon as I got in I dragged the duvet and a quilt type cover off the bed and put them over the line. No good for washing them but freash air helps (+ swabbed a few stains off the duvet). There was a load of stuff on top of them (started in neat piles which have disintegrated a bit) SO I now HAVE TO sort everything out, get down to the bare mattress and remake the bed before I can go to sleep (this might get interesting). As a bonus I spent £4 whilst I was out, I found £8.49 in bits of change on the bed - this was definitely not included when I totalled up at the end of January.

When I was young I used to barricade myself in my room by putting all my stuff behind the bedroom door (amazing how quickly you can tidy when you need the loo). Don't think it will work now.

I have looked through some of the older sewing (10 years +, most of it) and decided to discard some (cut out usable pieces of fabric), finish off a few that are near completion and still thinking about others. Will not be starting on 2 planned projects for mum as she will have trouble seeing them by the time they are finished - had an idea for 8 originally, she has 5 or 6, I have another one that I am missing 1 shade for (between white and very light cream, nothing in my box of tricks). I only have the idea for the last ones, no pattern so would be adapting wildly.

Will definitely be some booklets for the charity shop, lots of scraps into the paper recycling. However I have only tackled about 2 boxes out of ten (estimating as they are different sizes and shapes). It will help me focus on assessing the labour involved before I start any future projects.

Today I am grateful for hot baths (not really allowed but so good), for my duvet and quilt (old and warm but so cosy) and for the impetus to tackle this mess.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
