    Second Anniversary
Part of the joy of a DMP is to pay debts off whilst also having a life. That's exactly what we are doing, not overstretching on the repayments so we can do fun stuff! We have struggled for so long with no money to do anything. The creditors can wait - this is OUR time!!!

    Hi debtaghh

I'm feeling a little :( today. No particular reason I suppose I'm just having one of the down, reflective days. There will be many I'm sure.

It's so frustrating when you want to move things quickly but things are holding you back isn't it.

Keep going we WILL get there one day

I feel exactly like you. Want the debts to go ASAP but likewise want the live life a bit. Just remember we are doing the right thing and are heading the right direction. The odd treat may delay our debt clearing but it's what you're happy with. I'm happier with having the odd treat and paying the debt off a bit slower.

WE will get there and our name will be on the roll of honour!!

    Hi all

I've made a small overpayment today. Nothing major but a little boost for me :D. Our short term goal is nearly completed :j. At the very start it was around 2 and a half thousand but I only started tracking its progress last year. It has gone pretty quickly to be honest and once it's gone I will be adding the money elsewhere and aim for a new target :)

DHs payday tomorrow so will try and put a little by for my savings target. It won't be much at all but a start at least.

Glad to see you're more positive.

I see you have done a dmp. Do they give you a time limit like an Iva or is it until the debt is cleared? Is it a manageable monthly amount? Sorry for the questions!

    Hi debtaghh

I started a DMP in around Feb/March last year. With Stepchange. However after 2 payments to them I found the amount was far too high. I decided to go self managed using the NEDCAb site. It's absolutely fantastic. I put all our details in ( overstretched the budget to give some leeway) and it generated all letters for me and even generated my I & E etc. It also automatically saves all details. Once you put all your money details in it even generates how much each creditor should get.

I just added bits to the letters saying I do not give permission for them to contract me by phone etc.

I sent all letters to creditors with my I & E and I've had no issues whatsoever. Honestly.

That's interesting to know that with step change was too high as that was my worry. From what I understand with a dmp you clear all your debt but over a longer period of time.

That's exactly right. I don't think of our DFD as such I'm just taking each month as we go and see if we can bring it forward at some point

Our creditors have been fine with us so far. I think it's because we haven't hid from our debt we are dealing with it. They will get all of their money back just a little slower than originally planned
