Thanks SL - not sure where I'd put it thought, except at the allotment - and I'd need to go and open and close it there, right? Very tempting!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

None in mine today though! It was my last day of dropping the eldest off for a month so
mildly miffed. We will try again in the next few days.On the positive side I don't need to distract mr redo from more garden spending. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Phew, exam done. Not too bad although I was timed out at the end when I had five more points to make. Pass mark is 60 - I dropped one mark (half the word but no time to go back for the second part to pop back in to my head) in the first section of ten, so 9/10, probably 20/30 on the big 30 pointer, then 4x15 pointers to answer, only needed 8 on each. We will see. Results mid-May.
Anyway, more to think about (although my study needs a serious tidy with all the books and papers everywhere... a mañana job...
Today I have cousin and partner for lunch at two so a slow roasted pork shoulder, with apple sauce, roast veg and greens followed by rhubarb crumble. Looking forward to that but a massive clean up needed first. DH will be on dusting and vacuuming, and reclaiming the dining room from the beekeeping equipment he has been making up (bless him, indoors at the dining room table, so I could run study things past him). Oh, and the sitting room is covered in bits of slipper the dog has chewed. We need to shut the cat away as they are bringing their dog with them. So first thing will be for the two dogs to play and run around for a while on the field. It is SO nice to get back to normal! Thank you, everyone who has been so encouraging. I cannot tell you how well I slept last night, having had a lovely day yesterday, and got that stressful exam out of the way. On the up-side, we really learned a lot, that will help us in our beekeeping, but also that this is not the best time to study as my speed of typing and thinking are definitely a little slower than they once were. Could it be that I am getting old? I think not, my Mum is still Captain Scarlett (indestructible, for anyone who does not recall; at least in her head!).
Today This week (you see what happens there?!) I need to sort out my study and filing (ugh!) and tidy at least five things to their resting place in the loft (four of these are DS's treasures from childhood). Seriously, having looked at the forecast, this is wet weather work.
I'm going to slow cook a ragu this morning, so we have got simple easy dinners this week, as we have lots going on. The chap who painted our house, is starting working at DS's house in the nearby town to repair the ceiling, paint and put in the new floor. DH is going over to meet him there at nine and then back to remove the kitchen radiator later this evening. DH had of course forgotten I have to go to a meeting an hour away this evening, and I must leave at 7.30. So maybe he will be taking the dog with him!
Garden
I also want to weed the beds in the fruit cage so I can get the fruit moved in there as it is all starting to shoot. I want to take cuttings of blackberries and gooseberries from the bushes that are too big to move. They are in the wrong place now and the gooseberries have been found by the greedy pigeons who have scoffed them all, just as they were ripening for the last two years. Then they can go ahead this year so there isn't a break in the production, while the cuttings establish in the cage. I'm going to feed my garlic too (as the seller gave me garlic food). The soil is warm enough to plant (onion sets and potatoes but we are not ready yet, with stuff to clear and the arch frames needing to be repaired, weeding to complete and a holding bed to set up for heeling in things to move.
Bees
Then I need to check the bees have all got food and are growing as colonies. We need to consider when to put supers on (honey boxes and also space for the flying bees to hang out when they are not flying) and hoping for a warm dry day without too much wind so we can do the year's first inspections. On the production side, I need to jar up some honey as I have only three jars left.
Money Saving
Apart from buying my cold frames from Aldo's for £30 and getting the house insured for over £1000 less than the renewal quote, it is the dead zone here.
I can hear DH is up now, so must get on... Have a good day everyoneSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
