Ah the random discussions on here
Got to love a forgiving recipe, even if they aren't I force them to be & they never end up the same twice
I used up some sour cream yesterday in a brownie recipe that turned into a cake due to quantities and size of tins available, it got whatever quantity of sugar & flour that made the consistency look about right after the sugar decided to clump and then come out on a large unexpected burst, they are very tasty- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Anyway, I got back about 16.45 and said farewell to DH; off to his bike Xmas party 15 minutes later. I will talk through the info from my training day, which was excellent in terms of being prepared for the onslaught of Asian Hornets that is undoubtedly coming to the SE and E of England.
I had pre-cooked my tomatoes and allowed them to cool before setting off yesterday so my second third task last night was to liquidise and then reheat to a simmer while the jars and discs got hot, then I filled 11 jars of lovely home-made tomatoes (I forgot fussing the desperate dog, who needed affection, play and reassurance before feeding, more play and finally flopping). Nowhere near the glut of 2022 when I had 54 jars but a more manageable amount to cook and store for my future use. The other two were to chat to DH briefly and then stick a potato in the oven for my simple carb-rich supper (it was that sort of night) - Jacket potato, butter, grated cheese and coleslaw. I shared my yogurt with the dog who loves Greek-Style yogurt and it makes his coat glossy in small quantities
This morning I shall be part of a small group of four who will be building the new picnic bench for the Village Hall. Hopefully warmer than the rest of the week, it was predicting a (relatively) tropical 7c when I arranged the time.

We are loving our homegrown bottled tomatoes, @Suffolk_lass. So glad you encouraged me to have a go. Mr F is convinced they are sweeter & more mellow-tasting than bought tinned ones. Still plenty of jars to use. Haven't had to buy any tinned ones for several months. The Carluccio pasta sauce & Hairy Biker basic curry sauce I batch cooked from the tomato glut have also again been very useful.
Aiming to grow same no of tomato plants this year as such a useful resource now I feel confident with bottling.

Picnic Bench built, covered, and weighted down. A quick look this morning, post storm and I cannot see the cover, so I need to get DH to put the hall bin out and check on the cover when he comes down. I am still in my nightie!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hope cover turns up. That was some storm last night.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Cover was there, anchored down by one of our heavy breeze blocks with mortar round it (handy thing from MP on FB) but all the ties had pinged off and DH has retrieved them all from around the place.
The stairgate pinged off the wall this morning as I was carrying the dog down. (DH job, just fixed as I type) It is accompanied by a block of wood to take account of the uneven wall and a cut in above the bottom stair. Anyway, I went up to wash and dress while DH sorted bins and cover and was joined by dog, ever keen not to miss out. He can get up, but not down on his own, so I had a spectator!!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Glad you found your coverDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
