I’m planning on marmalading this weekend. I didn’t do it last year and I missed it, as well as missing the jars ready for gifting at Christmas (I’m the only marmalade eater in the house and I don’t get through much even then). I agree @foxgloves, these seasonal activities provide the rhythm for the year and definitely make me feel connected to past generations (even if my Nan used ma-made according to my mum).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Sorry to hear you are also suffering from the eczema re dairy .,.. I am better due too cleaning up my diet ... though still got a patch in my hair... I am back to eating lots of kale, blueberries and craving apples and it turns out ..
Vegetables and fruits that are high in inflammation-fighting flavonoids: Apples, broccoli, cherries, blueberries, spinach, and kale. Flavonoids have been found to help improve the overall health of a person's skin and fight problems such as inflammation (which is associated with eczema).
I have never tried making marmalade .. delicious though it is... f+m I am sure do lovely marmaladeDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Cutting them out for even a week has taken away the itchiness of my skin and four patches is three (two glasses of alcohol this week has delayed eradication).
Your comment about flavonoids reminded me of an article in The Times yesterday @LadyWithAPlan. It was about gut health and the comments attributed to three Professors. Most surprising to me (I studied sports nutrition for my degree, back in the day), was the benefits of cold potatoes and that all three recommended commercially available pro-biotics and pre-biotics for improving micro-biome health. I read this bit out to DH who triumphantly told me he had always known that cold potatoes are good for him (and I have always had to flag up when I have made enough to have cold another day or he would just pinker them away).
This morning we are meeting up with some other beekeepers for brunch and bee-chat. I have booked for 8 but expect 9-10. We just need to get there a few minutes early so they can decide whether they squash us up or add another table. Hopefully for us, it is not too busy this month.

Did they not mention the benefits of fermented foods? They are so easy and cheap to make (although all of my jars have "gone missing") and my water kefir grains died! However the research does show that fermented foods are a great way of improving the gut microbiome (off to buy some more grains!)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -

I’m pretty sure a Zoe podcast with the top scientists there argued the opposite - that unless there’s a specific need, bought pro/probiotics don’t do a lot.
Watty, if you do Facebook, there’s a group called UK fermenting friends and if you join, you can request in the chat for WK grains and someone will send you their excess for free. I got my MK grains this way. Really helpful and friendly group too.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
