I have found the dessert spoon! it really is annoying when things go missing!
I should also have mentioned the dishwasher. I thought it was going to break as everything was covered in (I thught) limescale, but it was salt. When DH was topping it up he must have cross threaded the lid and salt had been escaping for about two weeks (since he topped it up; yes, it should have been a clue). Anyway Christmas Day it was a disaster. All my best crockery was covered in a white film, so I took the bottom try out and there was the salt cover, in the trap, having finally undone itself. We ran two loads with white vinegar to clean it, then topped up the rinse aid and hey presto, everything is clean and sparkling. The find of the dessert spoon reminded me as it has obviously been in that place since Christmas Day or before as it still had its salt film.
I am not posting plans for the year. We will potter along. Let us see where that takes us. No spending yet on groceries (but we need to sort a replacement tumble dryer and double oven for DS's house).Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Just caught up on your diary - as its not on MFW I miss the updates
40KG of flour is a LOT - flourgate indeed.
I just have the Panasoni* b/maker I wanted as it does amazing GF bread so I will start looking for online places to order GF flour.
So glad Mr SL is healthy - so worrying for you..
So sorry to hear on your family drama and people saying nasty things (that quite frankly if they were not family you would never speak to them again) I had a similar issue pre Xmas from my dad after a couple drinks on his part. I did have calm but strict words the next morning and got my first actual apology in 50+ years.. I am keeping my boundaries tall though - not seen or spoken to him since Xmas eve - only via my mum. I refuse to have people speak to me like that and I am old enough now to demand kindness and respect as opposed to when one is a child and cant.
Hope the 2024 kick off goes well.
@KajiKita that honey infused with lime sounds amazing!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

@redofromstart five forks ??? The mind boggles
Mind you the amount of stuff I lose is incredible hence starting my decluttering.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -

wonderful!
Our lunch numbers have gone up by 6 this week. Still a modest 25 but I had not left sufficient contingency and had to go to the SM yesterday for more chicken, leeks, shallots and carrots. I made the executive decision to add tins of Morries OB chicken soup and added a half can to each of "rinse-water" to make sure the dishes are wet enough. Three mahoosive lasagne dishes are open roasting in the aga as I type. I also had to make a small bread pudding which is in cooking, as I didn't have enough. I need to work out my spend now before finally getting dressed in time to meet my co-volunteer to set up the hall at ten.
Have a good weekend everyone, if I don't get back here (12th night so decs down and away later!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Decs are all down and packed away. DH just had to wrestle the tree back outside yesterday, ready to take it for recycling (we don't pay for a garden refuse collection and so we need to take it to one of two very local collection points on 16th for collection on the 17th).
Meal-planning from stores. Hmm. We have two dozen eggs accumulated after Christmas different diet, and that is after we have all (us and the dog) had eggs and toast for breakfast yesterday morning! Of course I could use four eggs making chocolate brownies but do I want that much sweet stuff? I could freeze them, but I did my community lunch Friday; it was chicken casserole (and veg) then bread pudding (and custard); with the bits in brackets from my fellow volunteer, and so (like the bread pud), they would live in the freezer for months and it is cheaper to store them as dry/raw ingredients.
I need to contact our absent-from-NY friends and find out what their plans look like (lots more school holiday cover for their grandchildren, now their daughter and husband have separated, and what their daughter will be doing re housing as they have barely been in their first purchased house a year). They will be devastated as the husband is also a relative.
For me, I had a really quiet down day yesterday and slept for a couple of hours and still needed a further 7 in bed. I must have needed it after a busy few days. I did finish the Christmas cake and DH is heroically going to finish the cheese, nuts, hummus and chocolates and we eat the last two desserts I bought. So from now on it is simple fruit with cream, yogurt or custard if we want something sweet.
For me, as well as sugar in its various added forms (apart from possibly a teaspoonful of honey on yogurt) I will be temporarily pausing on starchy carbs; potatoes, bread, pasta and rice, except if I put a sad potato in soup. My basic soup is onions, carrots, courgettes and stock, with DH helpfully telling me there were a lot in the pig shed freezer [err, I know, why does he think I grow so many? it is to make weekly soups with until they start cropping again!]. I need to do this because the excesses of Christmas are evident in my skin. I have two patches of itchy redness either side of my chin; which will quickly be eczema if I don't address it. I will lose weight on this diet too, as it is like the 8-week low blood sugar diet based on 800ish calories a day. I find it really helps me to do this every year or two as a bit of a system reset and cleanse. That's why I put 800ish - I don't count them, I just reduce everything, excluding the sweet and starchy stuff. I will start tomorrow, and DH will be joining me for the meals!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Morning SL 🌞
I, too, can't wait to get back to our usual diet. However, I think we'll be decluttering leftovers for another week yet 😆 Have you tried Tamanu Balm for your skin redness? I use it for eczema, burns, insect bites, etc and find it very effective. Good for treating the symptoms whilst you rectify the cause.
