@beanielou - I feel the same way about eye surgery but it's not as scary as I'd thought (although Mr Lass sounds like he's been through the wars). MIL had cataracts? Removed recently and has the best vision of her life, was up and running/seeing? Within a day each time 👍
@Suffolk_lass - why are you getting solar panels if you want to move house? 🤔3 -
@edinburgher we had signed the contract months ago as part of the "solar together" county council promoted scheme. The agent says it will help sell the house, and if we stay here for next winter, it will help with the electricity costs if we make sure the battery is filled up every night on the overnight rate tariff. We are going with a single battery for now. As our destination house is listed, there is no chance of transferring within the scheme timescales.
Currently 70% of our consumption is overnight with the dishwasher and periodic hot wash in the WM. I also get up early, so even the 10-20 minute tumble dry to remove the creases is at the cheaper rate (8.5pp kwh vs 22) on our fixed tariff.
Yes, DH now rather squeamish, having had four so far, but he can now see like he could when we went to NL in December - so it seems to be recovering. He has to have another check up in a couple of weeks, then an optician referral for cataract in that eye in between 4 and 12 months, depending on how fast it develops.
I have had double cataract eye surgery too, as a result of taking high-dose steroids for bad chest infections (pleurisy) and asthma over 25 years (at that point) - then laser after that as both lenses clouded quickly. The only issue with the laser follow up is gravel - my brain can't fill the holes quickly enough so the holes shimmer like a pool with sun on it after an insect lands. Rather discombobulating, even going to the bins here.
Not much money news other than the shop (£43.70 of fresh and £5.25 of store-cupboard), with milk (weekly) and last month's eggs, I have spent £66.20 so far and £43.22 to come in subscriptions on 20th. A quick check of money this morning and only the water DD is visible (£25 per month) that will increase next month. I need to look at buildings and contents insurance as our renewal is only weeks away and nothing through yet. DH is in full-blown AGM prep mode with several calls a day and a Zoom call last night.
My birthday present is in place and I have started to populate it (a barrister's glass-fronted bookcase) - ahead of my birthday. Remarkable. I cheekily asked for a specific money-related book too (by Paul Johnson), and my visibility of big river suggests I may get this too as it has been delivered! Enough of this - nearly a fortnight ahead of an unremarkable date!
Nothing on houses except DH spent ages fiddling with a CAD package to show that if we are successful in moving to the one we like, there is room to divide the downstairs bathroom into an en suite shower room and downstairs cloakroom.
I moved my chilli seedlings heated propagator back into the greenhouse as I have 14 germinated seeds (most are Jalopeno but also four each of Tabasco and Cayenne). All except one variety of tomato has at least one seedling now too (they have stayed in their propagator in the greenhouse as the light is so much better). So that is all good. Lots of little sprouty shoots on the 2nd early (Charlotte) potatoes and as soon as it is warmer we will get these and the onion sets in.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Glad to hear it sounds as though MrSL's eye might finally be on the mend - although the suture is making my eyes itchy just thinking about it!
Glad your second viewing went well - we're currently putting the second viewing on the one we want off until we get some movement on selling ours but will probably try to sort it as soon as (if!) that movement occurs.

Thanks @EssexHebridean, he says his brain is a bit confused. There is a line across his eye from the deflating air-filled bubble, plus the log in there causing it to itch and the focus above and below the line is quite different - so it is trying to sort out three different bits. Nightmare! We had the second viewing as I wanted the agent involved to know we are serious about selling and offering, so now I have spoken with him he is going to keep me informed of any serious interest or offers.
Nothing seems to be moving though.
I can't remember if I mentioned our PB win this month was £125. I didn't realise as I had checked on 2nd and nothing was showing for either of us. It was the first draw for the big one I bought in January and it won a bit.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Nice win on the PB. Do you check on the app or on the website? (Wondering if I should hopefully check the app again!)

I check mine on the website you just use your holders number for, it saves all the logging in palaver, it also gives you a countdown of how many days until the next draw.
