I'm wary of posting this now, but this morning I've had my vaccine invite. So each local clinical group must be tackling their lists in their own way. Or the numbers of people in each 'group' are obviously quite different in each area.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......7

Our local vaccination centres are operating lists of people who will come in at short notice when vaccines are left over at the end of the day, so it’s worth asking if yours are too. It’ll hopefully be over soon. We all need to keep hanging on and hoping.“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” 🐠https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6098084/discount-duck-s-quest-for-mortgage-freedom#latest3

There *must* be local variations, it just stands to reason. I myself was vaccinated two days before the announcement that my group was going to be called.
SL, I'm sorry it's so stressful for you right now: I do understand the stress, I'm getting quite a lot of sniping from family offline about my cautiousness about catching the virus, and it's pretty upsetting. Be kind to yourself. I know you will, it's just, I feel for you.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
I'm OK and I'm fine with people being called, it is lovely for you @shangaijimmy (and everyone else).
Here is Suffolk we were really slow to start and then my GP had approval followed by a fortnight of getting everyone over 70, then a break of two weeks. This week they only have enough (Oxford) for one nurse to be jabbing and no volunteers needed. Next week they are expecting more Pfizer so all the diabetics and under 65 high risk people are being booked in. They have been asked to pick up people from another area too (people too far from the main conurbations and not wanting to travel there).
We are very fortunate that the surgery has two ground floor corridors, one for nurses (vaccinations) and one for doctors with fire exits out of both so these are now separate entrances (and exits) plus a suite of other treatment rooms upstairs (used to be used by complimentary therapists, dieticians and nutritionists, that sort of thing). And it is opposite the high school with its big empty bus parking that the staff are kindly using, so theirs and the visitor (parents) car parking has been seconded for those who can walk. The only issue I have had reported (being on the parish council I get told everything that is wrong, as though I have any real influence) is that you can't get an answer when you arrive as the phones are so busy when vacc's are going on - they need a text-in facility for things like blood clinics running at the same time or the poor souls are left outside and miss their allotted slot.
DH is having an outing this morning (the market) - just fruit and veg and fish but I feel quite envious and will walk down to a neighbour's to return something. Lots of planning stuff going on here. Never-ending pressure to urbanise our small village it seems.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

The layout issues sound well sorted, SL. I didn't realise you were on the Parish Council! Yay
A friend of mine in south London is also on her parish council, and planning issues definitely seem to be the main thing. Stand fast against the urbanising pressure!
PS even as a vegetarian, I'm loving the sound of your market - not only fruit and veg, but fresh fish! Amazing stuff.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
@Karmacat if you ever get the chance to go to Leicester market it’s the biggest covered market in Europe and has been there almost 1000 years on the same site. It’s cheap and plentiful, full of fruit veg and spices from around the world.“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” 🐠https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6098084/discount-duck-s-quest-for-mortgage-freedom#latest5

That market sounds absolutely fab @DiscountDuck. We normally go to Rutland every year for a long weekend and I would love to visit the market in Leicester. There's a good one in Oakham twice a week but Saturday seemed to be more goods than edibles.
In the meantime ours (just on Fridays) includes an artisan baker and a micro coffee cabin. Not so many at the moment but just recently a refills stall. In fact we have asked her to come to our Village once a month so that starts next Thursday. Normally there's a plant and flower stall together with the cheese and pie man, but he isn't always there, and the person who sharpens knives has been MIA for ages. Mind you, it might be that we go the wrong weeks as we are typically once a fortnight. The good thing is that people can book in for just a few. There was an Indian lady who sold spices and pastes and a butcher/farm shop but both have not been seen for a while. I don't really buy crafty things but there are often one-off stalls for scented what-nots - I have seriously considered getting a stall to sell plant seedlings and again in late autumn to sell Christmas craft things. Thanks for that, Discount Duck, I love a good market. I've only been to Leicester once, I confess, and it was ages ago - I went on a day course at the Leicester Challenge Space Centre, which may have closed even before covid, for all I know. It was great fun though!2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Just catching up. Really blooming disappointing about your jab. Hopefully you will get one soon based on age.
A lot of my friends in their 60s have started to get theirs and we are expecting Mr Mee who is 61 to be called soon.
I haven't been to a market in over a year, I don't know if it is still on. In fact there are lots of places I haven't been to in over a year. I have just got to a point of passive acceptance now and can't even imagine a normal life.3
