Whoa - that is a blast from the past - I think that post from @Bobarella was in January 2017. They have not been seen for over three years. Not sure I have seen you in the debt part of the forum before. There's a bit of a convention on other people's debt-free wannabe diaries to be supportive and encouraging - do feel free to introduce yourself.
Actually the definition of an asset is a useful or valuable thing or person. Your assets in insurance terms are the possessions you list as having a value that you would want to replace, if damaged, destroyed or lost. I think the idea was that the Harleys hold their value for longer than some other possessions, and may even increase (or decrease) over time. They certainly get well looked after. And their mileage has not increased since March.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Exciting stuff about the 🐝!
🐝🐝 I had a brief exchange with a local bee keeper who is semi-commercial as he posted a video of a swarm arriving at one of his hives - I don't otherwise know him and I'm not sure he was telling me the truth. More checking for independent verification I think.
Meanwhile I made a large chicken pie (8-10 portions!) and a chocolate cake, which enticed DS to come and collect half as a birthday cake. I will take a few bits to the field that has a picnic table this afternoon as it is our lonely friend's birthday and I have suggested we meet there. One or two other people might drop by to say Happy Birthday as they exercise that waySave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

It would appear that poster has made other posts which seemed almost designed to 'raise one's hackles'

Thanks both - Actually there was a family of four (who did not picnic, but stayed and socialised, the lady whose birthday it was, another (lonely) neighbour and us. We took a cold box over with the goodies, together with a camping chair with arms and a small table so that I knew the lady with the disability could get up after sitting - whole thing cost us pennies (well, two bottles of nice white wine, some homemade goodies and a couple of packets of snacks) and gave so much pleasure. The field is a resource we really should use more for little village informal meetings - it was lovely. The two girls belonging to the family were happy to sit on the ground and the picnic table was long enough for most of us to be far enough apart with one exception, I was opposite neighbour two but she has only been shopping and I have only been to nurseries/garden centres so we were both happy to do that.
Simple pleasures.
Back to weeding today. I need to keep going in the vegetable garden - I'm on paths while DH is on beds - I need to get round before some of the faster growing weeds manage to seed. We need a solution to the large amount of garden waste we are generating at the moment - our compost bins are nearly all full and the local recycling centre won't take trailers and there is no way I am putting rotting vegetation in the body of my car, even in bags. Maybe I need to talk to the friend of the local farmer to see if we can do a burn on his fallow field near us. He's pretty good and the ash it generates is good for his field of last year's stubble. Proper old methods - his future crops will benefit.
No sign of DH's pension in his account this morning - I might look again later as it was due in today.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

We've just been for a quick delivery, taking two more clumps of agapanthus to different gardens in the Village. Just time for a quick check of DH's pension (paid today, instead of yesterday, for some reason!) and a quick check on here before we go out dog walking. I surpassed myself this morning by stumbling while fiddling about with the melon that is in the greenhouse, trying to twiddle the stems round the support canes, and fell towards the glass. I had that classic slow motion moment when I was reaching out to steady myself and realised I was going to lean on the glass. Like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix, I changed direction in mid-air and adjusted to the metal frame, only for a huge pane of glass to pop out of its frame and lans - on the wheelbarrow that was outside. I still don't understand but it did not break and I secured DH's help to help me get it back in. It took us about 15 minutes to find the ten clips that had exploded all over the garden and the inside (how?), some as far as 15 feet from the greenhouse. At least that means I won't be responsible for breaking the mower.
I have bruised toes and dignity but otherwise unharmed.
Not a great day with little achieved and lots of faffing about trying to sort out "stuff" - motorhome, garden, planting, ordering bits. DH seems pretty grumpy this afternoon with lots of unnecessary "harumphing" when I speak to him. I also tried to register with NS&I to buy the premium bonds @shangaijimmy "persuaded" me we needed (well he bought some and I thought "Ooh, good idea" and ended up 40 minutes on the phone. Very frustrating but all done thanks to mark 1 humans. The web-site said your password needed to be between 8 and 20 characters but it point blank refused mine until it was longer than 12 and it could not cope with my email and phone number and would not let me in, or back.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
