Well it turned out we had no lemons but then one of our baking group asked about flour and offered to get some - sorted, but they need a day or so to ripen a bit really as a little pale. I delayed getting the flowers but the harvesting of blooms is today and I will take scissors and a plastic bag on our walk with other people's dogs this morning.
Brittania BS have sent me a confirmation of account and it seems to be paper based. I have to say I was not expecting that as I filled in the form on-line and although they needed a wet signature, I was expecting it to pop up on the Coop bank accounts portal (maybe it still will). It feels a bit archaic really. At least there is no passbook.
Money trickling around between pots and the last of the gargantuan credit card bills has been paid (this one included the house building and contents insurance).
I need DH to get on with the Motorhome bathroom refit that has been sitting waiting for suitable weather since March. We have bought a stainless steel half sink (kitchen) to build a small cupboard round so that the space for (his) knees is greater than the rather shabby plastic corner washbasin. He seems to have lost his confidence because he can't work out the ceiling plan at the moment. I am more interested in three working appliances and a bit of wallpapering but not sure we have the same expectations at the moment. Some gentle encouragement needed I think.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Ooh and the next lot of beans are germinating (well at least, five or six borlottis have) - runner beans are as rare as hen's teeth - lots of dwarf beans poking their heads up in pots and a few tomatoes potted on into their final pots ready to go outside at the weekend when the wind abates and the temperature rises again. Everything in the ground has to fend for itself. No frost-proofing. I hope my courgettes are OK - they are at least under netting to stop the pigeons pulling them out!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Same here for the plants already in the ground - I don't have anything to put over them, so it's a case of being tough enough to endure! I have a feeling though that we've not actually had frosts here yet. Looking forward to the warmer weather forecast for later in the week - not used to these Arctic temperatures!
You've reminded me I still have lemons and limes in the fridge - will get them used or frozen today.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I've not protected any of my young plants in the garden, either - just crossing my fingers - the SW hasn't been too bad weather wise, so am hoping that continues:)I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £205

A quick consult on the motorhome bathroom this morning and DH is clear to rip out the rest of the cabinet with the washbasin in. We have agreed how the new one will be fitted, where it will be sited (at 45 degrees to the current corner basin orientation) and what the cupboards around it will look like. We have a wall hung cabinet with a mirror on it too so plenty of storage for us and a couple of spare loo rolls on our short jaunts! Unfortunately some bits were fitted into the concealed boxing in in the wardrobe so a bit of damage to remove is inevitable. Nothing a bit of filler won't fix.
I have found I can do almost endless amounts of pottering in my lovely warm greenhouse. I just love it!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Well I fretted about the forthcoming meeting I had to chair as a video-conference but I need not have done. By sending out the "ground rules" ahead of the meeting, everyone behaved themselves properly and we finished 20 minutes before the end point with all the business covered and everyone wishing to speak being given their time with the microphone. We might need to consider one or two additional audit measures but all is well I think. Right. I had better investigate the online planning portal next. Apparently it is being naughtySave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Sounds like a really productive meeting! I wish more meetings had ground rules in place!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

We could do with you chairing some of our meetings at work SL. Glad it went well x5

Haha, it was years of attending poorly run public sector meetings that did it - that and a timed agenda (although I put this on my agenda and don't publish it otherwise people expand to fill the allotted time leaving us short for things that spring up). In a much smaller sphere of limited influence these days!
Well the Village had another take away Friday night - it was a tiny bit of normality in a swamp of things we are not happy, or people are emotionally fretting about.
In great news (for us) I emailed our butcher who reopened last week and asked if they could prepare our purchase ahead of husband collecting it and he rang to discuss and all agreed for Monday between 2-3pm.
A little frost damage to potato tops and a couple of courgette leaves but nothing terminal. Given the forecast we planted out the rest of the beans and salad seedlings from the greenhouse. Lots more planting up to do, including hanging baskets and we have some agapanthas to home in pots - with a huge clump due to be dividedSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Are people not happy/ emotionally fretting about relaxed rules/ continuing lockdown/ continued shielding/ work or something else? It's a very strange time we're all living through - and I don't think anyone I know is in an identical situation to another, end even if in a similar situation they tend to be handling it emotionally rather differently. (DH bumped into one of the dads from school whilst getting his prescription yesterday (mum & dad and 11yo son all out in supermarket together (grr) - 14 yo daughter at home) and he is loving it - he's furloughed but on 100% and wife is wfh (works part time school hours 3 days/ week and is working less than that amount from home but getting usual pay) and they are happy for it to continue indefinitely - they're better off as he has full pay, no commute costs and isn't even being asked to take any of his holiday during furlough. )
No frosts here at all - very lucky with regards to plants in the garden, I have to say. No rain, either (a mixed blessing when it comes to the garden!!)
