    OP

you've already been told that if you claim carers allowance, you would be able to claim income support instead of JSA.

you arre repeatedly asking the same question while not reading the advice that people are giving you

I'm very sorry if I'm a bit confused. But I thought jsa was my best option not income support?
  • If I don't apply for jsa, and I just apply for carers allowance and income support instead, does the benefit cap rule still apply?

If so is it only for ten months because I have been in full time employment for over a year?

Income support is the better option. No need to comply with a job-seekers agreement and no regular signing on

I think we are not getting the full story here......

What else do you want to know? I've tried to be brief, but maybe I should explain more.

It's the benefit cap that concerns me more, as we live in London which means the rent part of our benefit takes up so much of it. We don't see a penny of that it all goes to our landlord.

if you're caring for 35 hours a week ( the reason you are wanting to leave your job and claim carers allowance) then you wont meet the requirements for JSA regarding time spent job seeking.

the amount you would receive on income support, is exactly the same as you would on JSA.

the only difference being that you CANNOT claim carers allowance and JSA at the same time

claiming income support and CA would then make you eligible for the carers premium of £34 a week

that would give you around £148 for you and your wife.
you would also still receive the CTC, HB and council tax support but the WTC would stop

Thanks, and do you know if the benefit cap will apply to me?

If so will it not apply for the first ten months because I have been in employment for more than 50 weeks out of the last 52?

Thanks ever so much, you have been very helpful to me.

Do you know if the Ben cap will affect me, even after ten months?
