Well every poster had stated that it could easily affect you in a variety of significant ways so I don't see what else you can be hoping to achieve from this thread.

I'm out.
All i was hoping to achieve was to see if there was anything that might affect me and I now know the answer that that it will have no bearing on my life if I don't get divorced.0 -
I didn't divorce my ex for 13 years as I knew he would be a nightmare to deal with and he was.
For my peace of mind I wish I had done it earlier as it felt weird being with my now husband for 10 years but yet still married to another man.
I truly wish I'd done it as soon as the 2 year separation date was done so I could be without the baggage of dealing with a divorce when I was with someone new.
It was my past and should have been dealt with in my past and not affected my future as it did.#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
How about debts. Do you want to be paying off any debts she gets into?
I'm not planning to propose marriage to anyone, what with being single and everything, but if there's some kind of automatic spousal liability for personally accrued debt, then I don't think I ever will under any circumstances!Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Thanks, I was about to ask that, I have been googling and I cannot see that there is any way of her debts being passed to me?0 -

Because they have joint assets (or potentially will in the future)0 -
I don't think that you could be responsible for her debts, but being married means a financial link, so that may impact on you should she run up debts etc.0

Do you have any of the following:
Things you own?
Have you ever purchased anything which is still in your possession?
- If yes, you have assets!
Yes, but again, I can't see anything on the various online resources that give her a claim on them? obviously if I am dead then she is welcome to them but she cant physically have half of for example my cutlery? can she?0
