My great, great grandmother's wooden rolling pin and her girdle (not the panty one, the one for tattie scones and Scottish pancakes). I was told never to steep or wash them in water but to wipe them down thoroughly after each use.
I have a wooden rolling pin too, and I always wipe it clean as soon as I've finished using it, never chuck it in the washing up water.

I'm happy to say cobwebs, once spotted, don't last long; I have to go get the sheep-onna-stick and deal with them straight away. The downside to this is if we're out somewhere (the pub for instance) and I see a cobweb, I have an overwhelming urge to clean it away. :D

And why is it that if workmen have to drag out a cooker, fridge or other appliance, along with the shame-making grot and general muck there are always an inordinate number of dried up peas.
If anyone now posts and says that they regularly pull all their appliances out and scrub under and round them please note - you are not my friend.

I can be your friend then as I can't move my fridge it's so tightly squeezed in!! I dread to think what lies beneath
