What else am I forgetting to clean?

When you wash the shower curtain, the rings and the rail are always yukky. I put the rings in a lingerie bag and wash them too.
The soles of your slippers.
The wheels of suitcases, vaccum cleaners etc and the feet of any steps used to change light bulbs.
The glass of uplighters.?
Cables....anywhere, behind the telly, or the fridge.....the fluff is always sticky!-oh, that reminds me....under the fridge. ....oh dear
I had better get up and do some of these right now.0 -
Love the newspaper on the top of the cupboards idea! How often do you change it?
When I moved into my flat I assumed it'd been previously lived in by someone very... keen... on cleaning, as they'd cleaned off all the temperature markings for the oven. Top of the door frames were horrible though, I still haven't managed to clean them properly. I think they need repainting tbh.0 -
I guess the blessing of moving every two years means every two years you see what needs a stub and do it. The house had to be left pristine so just did it all on leaving. In own house now - let's see in few years how much is to do! Maybe old habits will die hard and I'll / the cleaner will stay on top of it!0

I've always been shocked whenever I've seen someone use a can-opener and then put it right back in the drawer. I was raised that you wash them each time, scrubbing the cutting wheel (and rotating it so you get access to all of it). If you don't, it gets filthy and then you risk introducing that filth into anything you open.
Back when the cats ate tinned food (little princesses only eat sachets now) they had their dedicated can opener which was only used for pet food.
Agree about the newspaper on the cupboard tops, the handles and bannisters.
Computer keyboards are usually pretty grimy, as are combs, hairbrushes and make up brushes and sponges. One of the most fastidious women I know seems unable to see the sides and underside of her washing up bowl are coated with grime and crying out for a bit of cream cleanser and a scrub. Everything else in her home, even the inside of the same bowl, is absolutely spotless.
The outside of things which are handled a lot, like tea caddies, biscuit tins, tubbyware, fabric coolbags etc can easily get grimy, too.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I've seen people in the past cut the rind off bacon then do the cuts , then a quick wipe with the dishcloth..then put the scissors back in the drawer..yuk...disgusting.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
As I am of the age and wonkyness where climbing on chairs is a distinct danger to both myself, and a possible NHS bed. I have a rule now, if its above my shoulders and below my knees then I don't climb or kneel to clean or dust I am lucky that I have two smashing DDs and a little band of DGS who will happily (especially the boys in exchange for some HM cake ) do any dusting I need doing.
I agree with the tin-opener thing I always clean it after use, even though I wipe the top of any tin I want to open first.
I live in an old cottage and the ceilings are quite high 8'6" so changing light bulbs are not so much a challenge as an impossibility, but I have a lovely young neighbour who will 'lend ' me her OH to change a light bulb if needed. As he works at the local hospital I'm sure he doesn't need to see me there
:):)
I think you never seem to notice the dusty bits until the spring sunshine will home in on them, probably where the 'spring cleaning' bug came from0 -
_pale_ Yuck, that's nasty. And a sure way to get food poisoning.I've seen people in the past cut the rind off bacon then do the cuts , then a quick wipe with the dishcloth..then put the scissors back in the drawer..yuk...disgusting.
I was raised to be very careful when handling food and to have the washing up water as hot as possible. Bugs don't like really hot soapy water very much.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

What I always forget to do, and never understand, is how there always seems to be some bits of a dead insect at the bottom of a completely enclosed lampshade
We have some like this

How do they get in
(these lamps are an absolute pig to clean in general by the way)0 -

Oh dear, I have done this too - although I blame the fact that it was a very cheap oven!
I will be honest, I am not a great one for moving furniture. Unbelievable what gets under sofas. Our fridge is not built in but very hard to move too, it gets really yucky under there.
I have heard about the newspaper on top of cupboard idea too - does it just sit there or do you need to fasten it down I wonder?0 -

Hm, suppose that's a possibility! Although I've been putting any slightly dodgy cooking down to inaccurate guesses at the temperature on my part...
I can't imagine newspaper would go anywhere? The dust settles well enough up there !0
