That's the one. A clear spray bottle with a picture of a yellow rubber duck on it. Even an older bathroom suite will be gleaming after using this stuff.

  • I recently read an article about taking off your toilet seats and cleaning all the hinges or whatever fittings there are. We've lived in our new build for 21 months now so I thought I'd give it a go! Very glad I did... they weren't terrible but I'm glad I didn't leave them longer.

We've got panels in our internal doors and you'd be surprised how much dust gathers on the edges and grooves of the panels!

"Elbow grease" no not the give it a hard srub variety. Sold in some pound shops, the Range and no doubt other places though I got mine from Amazon. It's wonderful stuff - I have a shelf next to the cooker that I keep various oils and vinegars on boy does it attract a sticky greasy coating. Quick spray leave for 10 mins- wipe and job done! Also fab on hobs, taps and other places that collect grime/grease :)

I don't understand where all the bits in the cutlery tray come from, everything in there goes in clean so how come there's always crumbs in the bottom?

Just butting in on this one.......I've studied this phenomenon! In my house, the cutlery drawer is often opened and the implement used on the work surface immediately above it BUT sometimes the drawer isn't completely closed and crumbs, bits of plastic packets (when scissors are grabbed to open said packet) float into the drawer.

But in my drawers there is only a cutlery tray, nothing else, all the other utensils such as scissors, peelers, spatulas are in a different drawer and there are very rarely bits in there. It is a phenomenon.

    What have I started???
You do realise now that because of all your very helpful replies there are now waaaay more things that I hadn't thought to clean than I had anticipated.
As for the top of the kitchen cupboards, we put in our kitchen ourselves a few months ago and lining them was on my urgent 'to do' list. Because of health problems I completely forgot! Unfortunately our cupboards are very high. Over 2m high so I have to conquer my fear and climb up very high on the step ladder. Yikes! That'll teach me.

Thank you so much for all the replies, seriously. I have had a read now so g will make a list tomorrow to get round to as and when.
Just sat down for the first time since about 6.30am. One of those annoying days when I didn't really get much done to show for being on my feet all day.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

My mum puts a layer of newspaper on top of the kitchen cabinets, then when it comes to cleaning all the grease/dust from the kitchen has settled on the paper not the cabinet. The paper can be binned and cabinet tops just need a quick wipe. I've been meaning to do this myself for years but never got round to it - that could be my job for today!

I do that but do it with baking paper which is less visible than newspaper as it's almost see through. When I did the tops with Metro it bothered me more visibly (when you're standing at a little distance from the cupboards the top is more visible).

I had our kitchen cupboards go up to the ceiling no dust trap and more space to store less used items.
I find the drawers inside the fitted wardrobes get quite dusty on the runners I take the out to clean them occasionally....
