Agree, dependent on the availability of very specific infrastructure which doesn't yet exist in the real world.

It doesn't exist ..... now you are arguing with yourself again, as earlier you said some did exist.

Slow down. You are rushing too much to post negatives, and are failing to keep your story straight.

TM3 LR capable of 450 miles when a 20 min fast recharge is added. Is that the end of range anxiety for potential BEV buyers?

I've not had 'range anxiety' for the last 35K miles of EV driving, and thats with a 200 miles range Tesla and access to V2 SC.

If anything V3 SC will be TOO QUICK, Tesla charge you 'idle' fees for having the car plugged in to a SC and not charging to stop chargers from been blocked. Even current V2 SC gets our car from 20-80% quicker than we have time to have a wee break, and finish a coffee.

We just did a 400mile+ road trip through the Lake District, range anxiety really is a non-issue even with current Tesla charging setup, 36K now done in 2 year and 2 months of ownership, I bet thats more mileage than most some combustion car owners who don't own EVs but seem to spend a lot of time worrying about what owning an EV would be like :rotfl:

Another TCO comparison of BEV v's ICE (warning - may contain good BEV news.)

And BYD now to build buses in Canada. Good news given that it's mainly buses (not cars (yet)) that are having an impact on global oil demand for transport.

:D Yep, that's why I said potential buyers, as the EV'ers on here seem happy, and whilst not an EV'er (yet), I have no range anxiety thanks to the many comments posted.

Hopefully re-assurance, such as '450 miles with just a 20 min rest stop' will work for most, do you think?

    Hi

But even without the v3 charging network being in place you can commute over 600 miles within 10hrs, including short rest-area breaks where the battery is topped up with superchargers for around 20 minutes ... in 'basic maths' that's an average of over 60mph for 10hours ... that's some going in any vehicle on public roads if you still want to keep hold of your license ... and yes, it has been done in the 'real world'!

Don't be silly now, we all know everyone needs a car that can tow a boat, whilst doing 120mph non stop for at least 1000 miles in the middle of winter for the 'just in case' situation when you get a call from a distant relative living in Germany find themselves stuck in a lake (near an unrestricted stretch of Autobahn) in the middle of winter and have no one else to call but you for help :).

Only when can an EV satisfy that situation can EVs be considered true cars!!!

I assessed some Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold teams in the Lake District three years ago. 30kWh Nissan Leaf and no problems. Charger in the car park at Keswick where I was staying and I gather there are a couple more dotted about now.

Yea I'll be surprised if the new Zoe with an owned battery and CCS charging with the R135 is much less than £30k.

Won't be the discounts you can get on the current model, and certainly won't touch barely used prices at half the price.

But the extended warranty isn't expensive. It's £289 after the 4th year...

This sounds interesting, even promising ..... though I admit to understanding very little. :o

GBatteries Leverages AI & Intelligence To Amp Up EV Charging Speeds
GBatteries has been working on a new EV charging solution that it believes will slash charging times while preserving the longevity of lithium-ion batteries. CleanTechnica connected with GBatteries’ co-founder Tim Sherstyuk to dig into the solution that sounds too good to be true to see if its claims hold water.

I have to say I just laugh when I see a certain poster on this particular thread and prefer to listen to those with actual real-life experience: thanks Gzoom and others.

It's not a mature market, obviously, and it'll be some time before the second-hand market matures, but at least experience is showing that longer term concerns about batteries have been over-rated.

My current car cost £4K nearly five years ago, and I accept that I'll pay more for my next one, but I really don't want an ICE now. Something like a current Zoe, but with owned battery. I think we need the hire companies in places like Jersey to start only getting EVs to both educate and supply the s/h market. More competition from different manufacturers too. Gradually but at any accelerating rate we can see the changes already happening.

Obviously there will be a few hold-outs for emotional, not logical reasons.:D
