A report from Public Health England that has some crossover with EV's.

Ban cars from idling near schools, says UK public health agency
In a 263-page review of the options for improving air quality [pdf] the report calls for on councils to introduce no-idling zones outside schools and hospitals; the imposition of more congestion charges and low emission zones; and the development of a vehicle-charging infrastructure to promote a “step-change” in the uptake of electric cars.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Nissan Leaf is the first EV to hit 400,000 sales, Tesla Model 3 is catching fast...

Unless they drop the price I think Leaf sales are going fall like its Autumn* once Model 3 is here. Isn't the new one also idiotically priced in the UK at either £25 or £250 above the £40k tax cut off limit?

    * ... sorry couldn't resist.

None of which this toothless agency will actually do anything about

    Hi

... just an echo of the approach applied elsewhere in the thread, but I contest that it's all true & deep down everyone knows it is ... apart from the very nasty anti-ICE folk at Tesla that is - all they want to do is remove all of our long standing democratic rights to do unto the environment what we please: next they'll be telling us that we must desist from smoking directly from the tail-pipe ... mmmm, the taste of burned carbon particles in the morning, there's nothing quite like it ... :D

I'll fight for my rights tooth & nail until everyone in the world understands that they're wrong and it's only me that knows the real truth <cut / microphone off> ... "[STRIKE]was that alright boss?, yes I'll be back in the office tomorrow but I've just got to sell some shares whilst they're top of the market - by the way, whilst we're doing so well on behalf of our clients, can I trade the Mercedes for a nice shiny Tesla ... my girlfriend thinks they're soooo s3xy!! ... what do you mean? .. the micrphone's still on? ... oh bummox, can someone delete that!![/STRIKE]" <microphone finally off, text stuck through in hope that nobody saw it!>

Air pollution, sm'air pollution, it's all overhyped. My Great Aunty Nora smoked twenty tailpipes a day, and it never did her any harm. If that Bus hadn't backed up, she'd still be with us today.

Air pollution deaths are double previous estimates, finds research
Researchers say dirty air is killing 800,000 people a year in Europe, and urge the phasing out of fossil fuel burning

The number of early deaths caused by air pollution is double previous estimates, according to research, meaning toxic air is killing more people than tobacco smoking.

The scientists used new data to estimate that nearly 800,000 people die prematurely each year in Europe because of dirty air, and that each life is cut short by an average of more than two years. The health damage caused by air pollution in Europe is higher than the global average. Its dense population and poor air results in exposure that is among the highest in the world.

Note - yes this is about burning all fossil fuels for energy, but vehicle emissions are nicely (and densely) supplied to us locally for easy ingestion.

Hmm, well, my admonishment didn't work!

Mind you, there has been a deafening silence from you- know-who.

I'll have to introduce my own concerns: all these EVs are so expensive and the manufacturers are using them to take car sales up market! I would want to know the state of my battery etc. and where the nearest charger is, but that's as far as it goes, and apart from HUDs a plethora of screens aren't really compatible with safe driving. I'm looking forward to an improved S/H market or Dacia introducing their first EV, in the meantime I shall look on askance whilst thinking "do people really pay that much for a car?".

Nothing new there really, I suppose.

Never heard of a Renault Zoe? How much cheaper can a Dacia be? If you want to cut the price of the car, the battery is the most expensive component, so you'll lose range.

Yep, but I don't want to buy a car where the battery rental per month is more than I currently pay in fuel. "I" models are few and far between and significantly more expensive.

Come on VW, you can do it. Switch from building vast numbers of concept cars, to vast numbers of EV's.

If VW throw their massive investment potential behind an all-in drive for BEV's then game over ..... or should I say game over a bit sooner.

Volkswagen Boosts Electric Car Investment & Sales Goals — 22 Million Electric Cars By 2028
On March 12, Volkswagen said in a press release that it is raising the number of models that will use the MEB platform from 50 to 70 and its production goal for that chassis from 15 million to 22 million cars by 2028. Keep in mind that the MEB chassis will be available to all members of the Volkswagen Group, which includes Porsche, Audi, Skoda, SEAT, Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini.
