Hi
Physics ? .... I like physics, because it's based on proof ... so prove, using only 'the basic laws of physics', that EVs are impossible, or that the supporting infrastructure is impossible ... maybe when you've done that (and only when it's been accepted!) we could discuss engineering, mining, manufacturing, the laws of supply & demand, and even (if necessary) the legal position related to climate agreements and the viewpoint of strategists that oil is to soon reach peak-demand, although economic activities continue to grow!
So to the physics ... We're waiting, but don't get anything wrong, no assumptions or speculation, just proof ! ....

I'll second that, I've been very interested to know what laws of physics are being broken, but I can never seem to get a straight answer. perhaps that's the point, just to fill the thread with negativity, division and diversion.
I suspect the responses you are now getting are simply "JAQing off"The act of asking leading questions to influence your audience, then hiding behind the defense that they're "Just Asking Questions," even when the underlying assumptions are completely insane.Mart. Have a look back through the thread - plenty of examples.
Next please ... 'basic laws of physics' ... where's the proof!?

Has this already been posted?
Any way, it's more footage of a Tesla semi (that Adrian has advised us don't really exist / are just stagelocked mock ups) laying down some rubber with some hooligan like acceleration ... "careful now, down with this sort of thing!"

Only 100w incandescents will do for some people. They heat the fabric of the house or summat to do with physics.. Yep, I remember all the early arguments against low energy bulbs too. :-)0

Fast payback on the additional cost of an electric semi (or truck, or tractor ..... not sure what term will draw the least criticism
).
DHL Exec: Tesla Semi Trucks To Pay For Themselves In 1.5 YearsWhile Tesla CEO Elon Musk has already been quoted as promising that the payback period for choosing an all-electric Tesla Semi offering over a conventional diesel truck would be just a few years time, not everyone is willing to take his word on the matter.
With that in mind, it’s worth noting that an exec at DHL was recently quoted as saying that the payback period on the Tesla Semi — that is, the period of time that it takes to pay off the difference in initial costs as compared to a conventional diesel semi truck, before net savings kick in — would be under 1.5 years. Again, after 1.5 years, that means the company is benefiting from net savings … while using cleaner trucks.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. The Leaf is likely faster accelerating up to about 40-50mph than the bmw, and can be fairly luxurious if specified right.
My Dad has a Leaf Tekna - most BMWs would be a 'nicer' interior to sit in. And I'll give you 30mph based on nothing but my own experience. I'm whipping cars off the line all the time, you especially notice when they change gear, but it's hardly fair if they don't realise they're in a race!Ofcourse the Leaf was no where near as fast as the BMW. I never said it was,
You said:The amazing power delivery of the EVs is why I ditched my old 380bhp twinturbo inline 6 BMW for a Nissan Leaf. For providing forward motion the electric motor has the combustion engine beaten in every way,
And I'm just pointing out not 'in every way'. For acceleration and top speed, the beemer wins.
I don't love EVs because they are cheap to run, or good for environment, I love them because they simply drive better. For me the powertrain of any car is the most important everything else is just window dressing.
My other car is a Nissan 350z. To pretend that a Leaf, Soul EV, Zoe have anything like that steering response, really would be 'fanboi-ism'. I appreciate the qualities of both. I see the writing on the wall. Please, everyone dump your normal cars for electric, and leave the petrol for the interesting cars!0 -

I've been dipping in and out of this thread (and just about following most of the technical arguments) but for me it still falls down on the convenience of charging. Probably 90% of the journeys my petrol Focus makes could be done in a similar size EV like a Leaf. But I don't have a garage or driveway so overnight charging isn't feasible. I just checked www.goultralow.com and the nearest charge point to me is apparently on the forecourt of a Citroen dealer a mile away. Hurrah - it's even free :money:. But do I get to leave my car there whenever I want? What if someone is already there for a 4 hour stint when I need to top up before a journey? The next nearest is a paid onstreet one and apparently has a different connector; the next after that is a couple of miles away in a council car park that closes at 1830 and has yet another connector. Compared to a choice of 7 or 8 petrol stations in the same radius where every nozzle out of 4 or 6 will fit and a wait of more than 5 to 10 minutes is exceptional. This is in suburban London - if I look where my cousins live in rural Kent - they've got exactly one option within 10 miles.
So right now - the convenience of petrol wins out.I need to think of something new here...0 -

Tractor unit is probably the most appropriate term in the UK.0
