I really like the meatfree co sausages, they are gluten free as well. So far whatever I've made with them has come out well.
Very good for a vegan fry up or just fried to go with mash and beans.
Although usually £2.50 for 6 I buy them when on offer, or more likely reduced.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

I like some of the Fry's family food range, (vegan) although they can be tricky to find. In particular I like the sausage rolls, chilled in Sainsbury's, but are sold frozen in my local health food shop.

I also like Fry's beef style strips which I put in stir fries. Didn't like their pepper mince style pies, too peppery for me. Their sausages are ok too but difficult to find.

I have used vegetarian Richmond sausages to make toad in the hole. I cut mine into 3 and put them in with the blob of solid crisp and dry which I use for my Yorkshire pudding. That's as much pre cooking as they got. Until the fat was hot enough for the batter.
For my sausage rolls, I like to put a little whole grain mustard on the insides of the pastry, no pre cooking.  For a relish anything tomato or red onion base would work well.
I had two in a scottish roll at the weekend with a hash brown and fried onion, absolutely gorgeous, but that was after a 4 mile walk so was ravenous.
I havent tried this yet but I intend to do scotch eggs. Theres a recipe on the quorn site I've tried and it involved making some fresh breadcrumbs and then blitzing down the sausages and using an egg to bind, which made a very acceptable vege sausage meat.
Another favourite of mine is a potato salad with chopped up cooked vege sausages, gherkin, spring onion or chives and a blob of mayo.
I now have 6 boxes of the vege Richmond sausages in the freezer.  They are my all time favourites, I'm yet to talk to a vegetarian who doesn't like them. I hope you like them.
I make scotch eggs with the Linda McCartney red onion and rosemary sausages - for medium eggs I use 1.5 sausages; for large 2 sausages.  It works really well and I love them (this from a non-veggie who doesn't like meaty sausage meat!)

Um, some good recipe ideas here.  Wonder if someone has a veggie meatball recipe made with sausage?  I find the bought meatless balls under-seasoned and bland.  And home made tries with quorn mince have not been a great success.  See basic ingredients are whizzed veggie sausages, breadcrumbs, egg, seasonings to taste?  Made up and chilled before cooking?  Anyway, look forward to a recipe if someone has one that works.
    Thanks.

Thanks so much for all the recipes - you've brought back my lovely memories of making scotch eggs for my family when I was about 15 or so and how nice they tasted when I rolled them in crumbs of my Dad's home-made bread and then shallow fried them.
I had made a very rustic bread crock in art at school and my Dad used it ever after, it was a very unwieldy shape and the crumbs used to collect at the bottom so we used them for all sorts of recipes. Dad said it was a great help!
I do miss him but its lovely to be reminded, thanks for that.
I shall be trying either scotch eggs or sausage rolls sometime next week.
Grouchy you might care for this Sainsbury's Chipotle Chilli Paste 90g | Sainsbury's as an addition to any meatballs you make. I've used it in a chilli and find it very spicy on the tongue but not at the other end of one's digestive system IYSWIM. I hope that wasn't TMI.

I think I would be tempted to wizz the vegetarian chorizo and  vegetarian sausages with either breadcrumbs ( I prefer the brown varieties) some dry stuffing mix. Then form into balls.  Depends on your taste, you could bind it round bits of mozzarella or feta or other cheese. Or add grated cheese into the mix.
I dont tend to fry much so I would just bake them on a tray in the oven and pour over a tomato sauce, either home made or shop bought. ( I sometimes use the spanish sauce made for spanish chicken 79p from lidl)

I was just checking my email and in today's Good Housekeeping there is this recipe
Pigs in Blankets Toad in the Hole (goodhousekeeping.com)
I don't like kale or kalettes but am thinking that I could make something very similar with brussels sprouts/ roasties/vegey sausages and home made stuffing as a leftovers dish after Christmas and use up the various sauces and gravies as well. What does everyone else think? Am already thinking that stuffing needn't be rolled into balls, just dollops from spoons would be fine although I suppose one could always go the melon baller/ice cream scoop way in order to pretty it up.

I think it sounds lovely. But I love leftovers with anything.
One of my very favourite dishes was rumbledethump. I had never heard of it until I saw it for sale in sainsbury's.  Theres lots of recipes for it.

As for stuffing I use greaseproof paper and sort of shape the stuffing into a rectangle on the sheet on the paper then I sort of cut it into squares and seperate with the knife.  Or if theres a lot it gets done in a loaf tin and sliced when its cooked.

Has anyone tried the vegan "stuffed turkey roast" that Aldi are currently selling in their frozen section? I'm tempted to buy it for Christmas,
    Thanks.

I tried several Aldi shops for this but they were sold out- as were the v pigs in blankets. The store manager in my local said they would not be getting any more in, I looked today just in case but no luck. It sounded really delicious yet I haven't read many good reviews.
