Anyone spotted the new curried chickpeas in Lidl at 99p? Decided to try them as I have some other options like dahl in my covid backup store (heat and eat).

The microwave timings are wrong IMO, barely warm after 1 minute which was more than recommended. Much thicker than most similar products and edible if not exciting.

Meant to bump this thread the other day and forgot so here is a slightly delayed recommendation for Chilled Puff Pastry Sheets | Ready-Made Pastry | Jus-Rol (jusrol.co.uk) which says on the packet that it is suitable for Vegans
I've used this twice recently and think the texture when cooked is really good, very light and flaky. I don't find the pasty itself to have any flavour at all so just be aware that you won't get any taste there just flaky crispness.

  • The Co Op have started doing a plant based range called GRO, lots of different products but as we only have a small branch here the number of products is a bit small.  We tried the quarter pounder burgers yesterday, soy based and they were honestly the best burgers I've ever eaten be it meat or veggy, really good 'bite' and a really substantial flavour and they didn't shrink in cooking or put out masses of oil and gunk.  Definitely have them regularly from now on and we've their Gro Sizzling Sausages which are mushroom, tarragon and pea protein for supper tonight with some bubble and squeak.  I have hopes they are going to be as good as the burgers.  There was an article that the Co Op are going to pull the prices of this range down to encourage a plant based diet but they're still £3 for 2 burgers and £3 for 6 sausages in our branch but well worth the price.  I'm going to try some of their frozen Gro products too.

I recommend squeaky bean Scotch eggs 👍 Their ham style slices and pastrami style slices are also great for sandwiches.
