I hope the appointed liquidators/administrators examine the conduct of the directors.
I also wonder whether OFGEM will revisit their terms of reference? The company has been persistently behind with publishing its financial results and the accounts when eventually published have always revealed a substantial position of insolvency accompanied by a qualified audit report on uncertainty over "going concern".
The writing has been on the wall for at least 6 months, during which time the company has continued to advertise for and take on new business as well as providing a proportion of its customers with the worst possible service imaginable not to mention hanging on to credit balances!

Tonik Energy (Tonik Energy Ltd)     I can't log in to my Tonic account for this reason.

Tonik Energy (Tonik Energy Ltd) is ceasing to trade. Ofgem, the energy regulator, is appointing a new supplier for its customers.

Customers need not worry, their supplies are secure and domestic credit balances are protected.

Ofgem’s advice is not to switch, but to sit tight and wait until they appoint a new supplier for you. This will help make sure that the process of handing customers over to a new supplier, and honouring credit balances, is as hassle free as possible for customers.

Customers can find support and advice on the Ofgem website. Alternatively, If customers need additional support, they can call Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133 or email them via their webform. Advice will also be shared on Ofgem’s twitter @ofgem and facebook channels.

    Emergencies and loss of power

    Gas

If you can smell gas, or think fumes containing carbon monoxide are coming from a gas appliance, or a pipeline is struck (even if no gas leak has occurred) call the free Gas Emergency Services line immediately on 0800 111 999.

    Also

    • Open all doors and windows to ventilate your home.
    • Check gas appliances are off.
    • Do not turn on or off any electrical switches.
    • Don’t smoke, light a match or use any type of naked flame.
    • If there are any electrical security entry locks, open the door manually.
    • Leave your property, wait outside and notify your neighbours.

    Power cut

If you have a power cut, call your Distribution Network Operator on 105. Before you call, make sure you’ve checked your trip switch in case there is a fault in your home.

  • Oh well. There you go.

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know
  • Looks like I completed my switch just in time. It's all OK with my new supplier but from Tonik's end their system may well think it's still in progress. Last time I looked at my account (yesterday) it said I was owed about £21. If the switch was completed properly I would be owed about £9. Not much I (or anyone else) can do at the moment. Just sit tight. and cancel any active DDs.

Does anyone who's been through this before know if the credit on your account goes to the new supplier to use as credit or straight back to the household?
    Just curious.
Terrible time of year to end up with no credit on your account.
  • You should get the credit balance added to the account at your new supplier.

  • Who gets the ongoing money from your DD. My next one is due tomorrow?

I started my switch to Octopus Energy on 22 Sept 2020 and I become their customer on 09 October 2020. I hope this does not impact on my switch. I cancelled my direct debit with Tonik and await bills for the past 3 months. I presume the designated supplier will prepare the outstanding bills.  Will we be given access to our Tonik accounts any time soon.
