I’ve been with Tonik for over two years. I also switched my parents. No issues at all until now.
I do not agree with my bill. They do not reply to e mails. I have phoned, to be told that I need to wait until they have finished updating their website etc. I had £225 credit 3 months ago. I now have £17. In spite of my direct debit increasing.
Also, on my statement, it tells me that they have a cheaper tariff for me. When I asked on the phone, they said there are no cheaper tariffs.
I no longer get reminders about meter readings or statement reminders. I’m not too bothered about this but I do feel that this company is letting itself down badly.

Ok, so, today I rang them. The person I spoke to was useless. I was fobbed off.
i wasn’t about to give up, so I rang again. Finally I got some help. I was told that my bills are wrong. The payments that I’ve been making haven’t been taken into account. So my credit has just disappeared. Also, I’ve changed my tariff. I was told on my first call that there are no cheaper tariffs, even though, on my statement it says there is one. I am staying with Tonik.
Let’s hope I now get a revised bill today.
I have also changed my parents tariff.
Unfortunately it seems that Tonik employ people that clearly have no idea what they are doing. They could have lost two accounts today.

My account seems to be back to normal and bills arriving ok, i've just requested to be moved to Green Super Power (1 Year) v1 via email so i'll see how this goes. My old tariff had no exit fees and wasnt due to finish till Nov anyone else tried to move via email?

It looks a cracking deal after I was looking to jump ship and it saves any hassle of trying to get a credit refunded. Great timing hopefully.

How do I complain to the Energy Ombudsman? I've been on their website and it just takes me round in circles. I enter Tonik as the supplier and it takes me through a series of explanations, at the end of which I am asked if I want to start a complaint. When I click this,  I'm returned to the beginning where I have to enter the supplier again, and I then go round the loop again. What am I missing?

The whole country is in turmoil, Geoff. Unless you are well out of pocket, I would leave it until the virus ends.

Have you created an account with Ombudsman Services? This is the next step after you have input the name of your supplier which should have appeared from a dropdown list. You need to mouse click on the button (top left, coloured green") which says "continue your complaint"

Left them in first half of Feb 2020. Still chasing them to return my money as final bill ended in about £30 credit... Very poor.
  • Alarm bells rang back in January when my bills we not updated but direct debits were still being paid. Contacted them and got the same excuses as everybody else - computer problems which should be sorted in seven days. Six weeks later and with my account almost £250 in credit and still no bills I cancelled my direct debit. Only then did I receive a response which I ignored and completed my switch to Octopus. That was a month ago and still no final bill from Tonik. Nowadays, they truly are the pits and deserve to sink into the oblivion they seem destined for.
  • I had no problem with Tonik up until January of this year. The recent comments on here and Trust Pilot ( one star comments) sum up the problem. My account was in credit so no problem there. There just seems to be no resolution to the accounts / billing problem. Maybe the Money Saving Expert could provide a bit of clarity.
