Would YOU buy a car without taking it for a test drive first?

Plus, there would be no way I'd handover £3,000 to some stranger just to test drive a car.

Best bet? Contact some local car dealers and ask them if they're interested... be prepared for low trade offers.

Or, sell on eBay.... but, even then, buyers usually want to take it for a ride just to see that it is 'as described'.

WBAC is the least-hassle alternative. I would put the figure they give here, but the OP's clearly scared of potential buyers stealing their soul, so has blodged out the plates - which, of course, means that the MOT history is also hidden. For that reason alone, sensible potential buyers will move on - especially if it really does appear to be priced under the market.

I don't let buyers drive my cars I take them for a test drive. I demonstrate all its features and faults if any. If they want anything unusual, emergency stop etc I am happy to oblige.

issue i have is with time wasters
problem is most people have nothing to say but ask for final price

not sure may just bite the bullet and trade it in

Struggling to get my head around this thread TBH.

OP, have you never bought or sold a car privately before?

In nearly 40 years buying and selling at "bangeromics" level Ive never refused nor been refused a test drive; most times the seller hasn't even came along with me.

Asking a deposit to take a car out is a sure fire way to alienate a prospective buyer.

I'd be amazed if anyone buys your car without a test drive, (who would) :), or if anyone pays you to drive it.

As said, WBAC is best for you.

    That's not a" test drive". ;)

OP, same happens with any selling website these days.

Put something on eBay, someone will message in broken english saying 'Will you sell it buy it now for £X"

Put something on gumtree, e-mails will arrive with the same proposition - "What's the lowest you'll take", "I'll give you £X less than asking" etc

I've not tried Schpock yet, but I'll bet it's the same there....

Sorry, but I never have that problem with eBay, only Gumtree.

It just won't help him if they damage it and are at fault.
That's why I said you have to take a chance on the damage to your own car BUT not with TP damage which is why you need to check the purchaser is insured to drive other cars.

full price in cash in my hand before test drive or no test drive

I don't think that is unreasonable considering what jokes have called me today pretty much all sounding slang and low lifes

That why we now always sell our used cars to webuy.. and other people like that
