auto trader nightmare

Hi Guys,

Paid £60 to auto trader to list my car at reasonably cheap price for it to go

i have received over 400 calls in past 3 days mostly from people with broken english and this is how it starts

hi mate, any problem with engine or gearbox , me saying no
ok what is your best price. me what is on auto trader is my lowest
then other side i give you x amount which is £500 less than what I am asking for


now my car is cheapest in auto trader within 60 miles radius but fed up with so many calls from people with broken english that want to grab a bargain

some of them have called me 10+ plus from different numbers or unknown which I know it is the freaking same person

how would you deal with this?

i had another guy wanting to test drive the car and said he has trade insurance
when I said can i take a picture and verify it he said no and was upset ... saying it is too much hassle

he was not even prepared to pay a deposit to test drive the car then how am i meant to let him test drive my car?

ok see it this way, what happens if he smashes the car into pieces round the corner and has a third party insurance?

How is a deposit going to make a difference? unless you are expecting them to leave 75% of the value as a deposit.

You are under no obligation to speak to anybody, if you dont like the sound of them, or if they are a hassle just say its been sold.

So how much deposit are you taking?

full price in cash in my hand before test drive or no test drive

I don't think that is unreasonable considering what jokes have called me today pretty much all sounding slang and low lifes

Well you're going to struggle, we buy any car maybe your best bet.

Even assuming you've been up for 72hours straight, do you really expect me to believe you've been averaging one call every 11mins? Allowing for the conversation you say you're having, that must mean one call within eight minutes or do of you putting the phone down.

How did you find the time to come online and complain?
