A saving grace might also be the fact that people just don't have that many cars on average having researched into it a little bit...

    Apparently,

    statista.com/statistics/300036/break-down-of-people-buying-cars-in-the-united-kingdom/

More homes have No cars then those that have Two or More.

    Most have just One.

most people live in urban areas where there is less car reliance but this estate appears to be in a rural area where people need cars more

Why is this a new build issue? I can walk around estates built in the 20's, 30's 70's 80' and 90's and see exactly the same problem. I'd even go as far as to say thing s are a lot better with new development than those pre 1980's since you now get driveways designed for two cars instead of one.

Oh this made me laugh :):):)

We have just moved into a new build also, people have been parking in our spot (including builders on the estate) but once they know we now live there now, they move on

Bruich76 are you sure all the 4 cars you saw belong to the house occupants? Could any of the cars belong to visitors? Or a housewarming maybe, if that's a new house too? There's all sorts of comings and goings when people are newly moved in.

I believe that one of them was a visitor, yes. So they only have 3 cars and it is on the road / pavement opposite our front room but we will be getting venetian blinds anyway I guess. Plus, it won't necessarily affect us getting out of the driveway.

As I said above, there is little room for people to park of the street really as there are so many houses and they are quite close together its quite hard to do so without hampering someone's drive.

I guess the main thing is having a nice house to live in and having somewhere to park. It just would have been nice for the street to look lovely all the time without excesses of cars but, I guess that is a pipe dream

I know what you mean, but there might be only one, or even none, parked there in the daytime, if people are at work.

I'd rather have the nicer interior, I think.

I also guess that although some people might have more than 2 cars - equally some will have less or maybe none. As not everyone will have kids or be at that age. Likewise, some might only have toddlers.

It will even itself out (hopefully).

All good points. You may find it doesn't bother you as much as you think it might, once you've been in for a while.

All the best with your move.

Most people don`t use their garages for various reasons, mainly being too lazy to put it away, the car is too big and they can`t get out of it once in the garage or the garage is full of junk.
Quite a few houses with integral garages have converted them to living areas to make their house bigger.

As long as no one blocks your driveway there`s nothing you can do about how/where others park.

Bruich76, to look on the bright side, after you move in you`ll be too occupied chasing the builders up to get the "snagging" done to worry about where others are parking.
