Concerns about new build
Comments

In hindsight we should probably have bought one a bit further down the road but then again the interiors were not as nice - case of damned if you do and damned if you don't!
Does anyone else have any experience of buying a new build and the management company doing anything to stop on street parking?0 -
If the road is adopted it's part of the highway. Therefore only the responsible authority can do anything about it.0
-
But, mainly because the street looks messy!
I've never heard of parking restrictions being introduced because it "looks messy"! If the parking is (objectively) causing an obstruction then fair enough. But realistically you can't complain merely about people parking in a (prospectively) public road.0 -
I feel like i dont want to buy it anymore... but don't really have a choice.0

Well, where on earth are you wanting to buy? Somewhere surrounded with double-yellow lines? :rotfl:
If you're completing next Friday then I presume you've exchanged - so no, you don't have a choice. I suggest you find something more constructive to worry about!0 -
You always have a choice (assuming you haven't completed) but you'd lose your deposit (unless you're on Help to Buy), your legal fees and any money you've paid for upgrades.0

my girlfriend has just discovered this and shouted at me!!
Full steam ahead it is then...0 -
Neighbours parking in front of their own damn house is such a non issue that you are really getting worked up about nothing. Almost any street with close living will have this.0
-
If you don't buy this, are you likely to afford a street where every house nearby has at least four parking spaces on a driveway and yellow lines round the rest of the roads? Probably unlikely...
Lots of people are lazy when it comes to garages and use the parking spaces anyway. Maybe they're using the street as 'your' house is (presumably) empty. Perhaps they'll use their garages too once you're in. I bet you don't use your tandem garage as much as you plan to...

We've just moved into a new build. Our neighbours have 5 cars, a double Greg and a double drive. Currently 2 are on the drive, one on the blocked paving st the end (which technically isn't allowed) and 2 on the drive of an empty house. I'm waiting to see what they do when everyone has moved in. Technically they can't park on the block paving and definitely not in front of us. We are just playing it by ear right now. But even in older houses you get people parking on the road! You can't get past that.0
