Sometimes the "right" way is the wrong way. I think this situation is a good example
Much the same as being too honest - it sometimes comes back to haunt you.
A piece of advice given to me years ago after I had told the DWP something that I had no need to or was asked to. What I had said led to major problems and the advice given was that when dealing with any government department you only need tell them the bare minimum and ONLY what they are entitled to know. The OP has the option of telling them up front or telling them within 28 days after arriving back.0 -
I am disabled and rang the DWP recently to find out how long I could go away for. They said, even though my husband doesn't claim carers allowance, because I would need someone with me in order to travel the 13 week limit would apply.
We both still work, so ESA doesn't come into it, but OP, because he would need you to go with him as his carer in order to travel ( notwithstanding you don't claim carer's allowance), is it possible that the 13 week period would override the 28 day period for travel? That was the impression I got from the DWP when I asked about it.0
