Some people have reported in the Daily Mail that their rubbish bin collection is being moved to once a month.

How often are YOUR bins collected?

We have a collection each week. General waste one week, recycling and garden waste the following week. So each type of waste is collected fortnightly.

Weekly collection, alternates between general rubbish and recycling. Green bin for garden waste is collected on recycling day, but you have to pay extra for them to take it.

Having read the article, I do think that a monthly land-fill collection would be fine if the recycling and food waste is collected weekly. The vast majority of waste can be recycled and it just takes a small effort for the households to sort it out correctly.


Although it obviously isn't good if people have been promised nappy bins and haven't been sent them.
