Black wheelie bin...General waste oficially every 2 weeks but we dont put it out until its almost full, which is usually 4 to 6 weeks, or sooner if it gets smelly.
Blue wheelie bin.. Cardboard, paper etc, once a month(we always seem to fill this)
Brown wheelie bin...Bottles, Plastics, Tins, etc, every alternate 2 weeks, we usually put this out every 6 to 8 weeks.
Green wheelie bin...Garden waste and food waste, every 2 weeks with the green bin. This never goes out, as I don't have a garden, and food waste goes in the black bin sealed in food bags.

Theres only 2 of us so we could manage a 4 weekly collection easily.

I keep 'smelly' stuff in a recycled wax cereal bag in the freezer until the night before the rubbish is collected:
    • meat bones
    • fish bones & skin
    • leftover cooked food that musn't go in compost bin
That way my bin rubbish doesn't pong or get attacked by cats or foxes, as the nasties are still frozen and also triple-wrapped:
    1. in the wax cereal bag
    2. in the white kitchen bin liner
    3. in the black bin-bag

All of those things would go in our food bin, not the black bag.

Ours went from fortnightly to every 3 weeks last October. There is only 2 of us so no problems but some of the neighbours bins are full after 1 week. Rubbish overspills into the street and it also gets dumped in the alleyways. Its cold at the moment but come summer its going to be party time for the flies, rats and foxes, especially if things like packets of raw chicken fillets are scattered all over the pavement, which happened here last week!

Recycling is every 3 weeks so the collections are like this:

Week 1. Blue bin (paper & card)
Week 2. Brown bin (glass, cans & plastic - bottles only with the tops removed)
Week 3. Black bin (all general rubbish)
We also have a food waste bucket which is weekly.

I wish more plastic other than bottles could be recycled ie; yogurt pots and margarine tubs.

Wow, we're very lucky, we have everything collected every week including the garden waste which also includes food waste, right through the winter.

Alternate weekly between a green garden waste bin and a black landfill bin.

Weekly is a recycling box for paper, cardboard, glass, plastic bottles, foil, paper, cans and tins, clothing and shoes.

This sounds quite comprehensive and regular compared to some of the previous answers and there's no additional charge for anything, but we don't have a food waste collection.

Weekly. I dread to think the state our bin shed would be in if it were any less frequent than that.

I dread the state of ours now, nevermind if we had less frequent collections! Ours is weekly. Folk are saying recycling isn't too much of an effort - I'd agree, but I'd be happy if my neighbours could just figure out a normal bin. Even happier if they managed to phone the council for free bulk waste collections...

We have a collection each week. General waste one week, recycling and garden waste the following week. So each type of waste is collected fortnightly.

yes, this is what we have too.

Black (general household rubbish) bin one week, and the 2 green bins (one recycling and one garden waste) the next week and so on.
