Carphone Warehouse tell me that some legislation recently made PAYG unlocking illegal unless the network the phone's locked on does it for you. Can anyone confirm or deny ?

unlocking is completly legal while unbarring a stolen phone is illegal

It is BB5, but it can be done by an expensive unlocking box of which james-73 is the happy owner of one. Might be worth PM'ing him.
