Heartbroken

Options
I lost my beautiful girl (Cat) yesterday, and i am heartbroken

I just can't think straight and my heart hurts, i had her for 12 years and she has been there and helped me through some really horrific times in my life, i'd sit and talk to her when i was upset etc and we also enjoyed lots of great times together

She started being sick at 1am on tuesday morning, she was quite old but no signs at all that she was ill, anyway, she was just acting strange, i just knew something wasn't right, i stayed awake with her all night trying to comfort her

I managed to get her into the vet late afternoon, it was awful watching her during the day, getting worse and worse

Anyway the vet told me she was dying due to organ failure, she was put to sleep at 5.00pm and passed away peacefully, i was with her and never left her side.

I haven't slept and i can't eat, i can't stop crying, i loved her so much, this might sound silly, but to me she was my baby as i never had children.

I love her so much

I just need other cat lovers to help me feel better, i need to know, do you think she knew how much i loved her and how much she meant to me?

It's never easy losing a loved one bit it animal or human. I'm sure that if your cat would curl up in your lap or on the bed purring away, she loved you.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

I lost one of my little girls 2 weeks ago very suddenly so I know how you are feeling right now.

They know how much we love them and what they mean to us. They try and show us in their own little ways just by being with us.

I'm so sorry to read this, yes it's absolute bleeding agony to lose a pet.
Of course she knew you loved her, you two were the best of friends, always there for each other. I also know just what you mean about being heartbroken. It is a real physical pain, not just a word to be bandied about. Been there , done that as they say, when I found my ten yr old girl lying dead outside, no warning, nothing, probs heart.

We do understand , so please grieve for as long as it takes.

I'm a dog person, though a few cats over the years have wandered by the house as cats do! But I don't think there's that much difference between cats and dogs on if they love and know how much they are loved. And I totally believe that all my dogs down the years have known they were loved, right to the bitter end.

I've had multiple dogs for over 30 years, up to 6 at one point, and I know that animals have complex emotional lives, more so I feel than we give them credit for. I'm sure she knew she was loved.

    I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news.
I am certain your cat would of known how much she was loved. I know its horrible but at least you were there with her in her final moments and she went peacefully and the fact she had 12 wonderful years with a caring owner.

Once again I am truly sorry to hear of your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I lost my big boy yesterday with cancer. He was nearly 18 and had a long happy life, but went down hill very quickly. I knew it was the right thing to do for him, set him free from pain.

They will always be with you in memory and happier times. They were loved and cared for.

    Geebee - it's devasting isn't it.

We lost Grumpy Old Ginge on Sunday- one of two very special !!!!! cats who belonged to my exBIL before he died( he was a grumpy old git too but one of his saving graces was that he was an animal lover!)

I bought Ginge and his 9 companions, 2 stupid little recycled cardboard cat scratchers with some catnip (£1.29 each in Home Bargains) for Christmas and he commandeered one the moment he saw it. I've got the most delightful short (but badly lit) video of him rolling around like a baby on it!

My SIl deserves a medal for all the cats she's rescued in the 30 years I've known her - every single one of them needed a good and loving home, and they thrived under her care.

I have never known so many cats to live under one roof with no problems - my 3 are bu$$ers in comparison! One, from down the street, actually chose to come and live with her despite there already being 7 in residence!!

I recently relocated and my biggest priority was somewhere safe for my cats - quiet, small enclosed garden, sympathetic LL, no big dogs . . . I'm paying well over the odds but it's just like having children . . I can totally understand how devastated you feel xx
