Anyone else make their own flatbreads? They look easy enough but we shall see :D

I made them for the first time about a month ago. Not a great success first time round but last weeks were much better.

I think the first time my mix was too dry. They are so cheap, quick and simple to make I will keep trying till I get it right.

I use the recipe Islandmaid posted on the 'What's for dinner' thread...

    Good luck Nelski.

ETA in fact I plan making more tonight to have with a Dhal.

Thanks Nelski - I'm still no sylph but no longer in the obese category so don't care :)
Flatbreads are easy are you thinking of a yeast based ones in which case I'd recommend Nigele Slater's recipe https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/aug/26/nigel-slater-flatbread-recipes or not?
If not I'd recommend a cup of natural yoghurt mixed with about 11/2 cups self raising flour. Divide into about 6-8 balls and flatten with your hand until they are ovalish and around 1cm thick. Sprinkle with a little oil and either bake in a hottish oven for 10-15 mins or griddle for 5-10 mins each side. Mix rolled thinly also makes a great pizza base and uncooked freezes well.

I've no idea how people manage to get 5 a day in ... unless veggies are ALL they eat. I usually fit 5 carbs in OK though :)
I agree. If I ate 5-a-day I wouldn't be able to eat any of the other food groups at all. :(

It occurred to me at 03:00 last night (insomnia yet again) that I really didn't ought to post on this thread, as I don't nowadays [STRIKE]cook for one[/STRIKE] just have myself to feed. :(

Not having a good day today.

Sorry you're not having a good day:grouphug: It's lovely to have your input even if nowadays you're not cooking for one- I take it from the "nowadays" you have before so know the pluses and minuses of doing so :)

Sorry to hear youre not having a good day, hope it gets better for you. I think you should post on here, you've had experience of cooling for one in the past and can give valuable advice based on this.

I have been on my own for 20 odd years, but 18th months ago met my lovely Man, he lives 100 miles from me so we only get together at weekends and odd weeks in the summer. So I cook for two at weekends.

Lol also have DGS Friday nights but his weekly treat is a chippy tea so no cooking for him.
