I actually have once, many years ago. Chucked everything out and started again..but hadn't thought about it since until I read the other thread.

The reason I use jars for things is because I was sick of stuff getting spilt everywhere and having to clean out the cupboards more often than I cared for and also to keep things fresher, because as I said, they take me an age to use up!

I was watching a Jamie Oliver thing the other day filmed from his kitchen and everything was in lovely big glass jars with with rubber tops and I did think how nice it would be to have them but you would still need to wash the jars out regularly I would have thought if you are concerned about creepy crawlies and to be quite honest I am not sure I can be bothered decanting everything but if I had a Jamie Oliver sized kitchen I would rethink :D:D

Having said all of that I do love these and could be persuaded it was for hygiene really not just cos I love the jars :rotfl:

I have the Jamie style larder ( although I do have a door) with all the pull out drawer/shelves. I keep all my dried goods in lock and lock. It's lighter then jars and as my hands are getting worse with age, the lighter the better

I've been a veggie since I was five, long boring story, and the smell of meat cooking, the thought of sausages etc makes me feel sick even now :(
My idea of hell, is to go to one of those carvery places:rotfl:
Another thing I hate is when people smell of chip fat on their clothes. Think it's a deep fat fryer smell, n it's often combined with fag smoke smells :rotfl:
Soz for the mini rant ;)

I dislike using glass in the kitchen as they can break and I've small hands so can rarely get my hand round them to hold them safely.

I think the best advice is probably to "marry well" - well enough to have kitchen staff. :)

I keep most pastas in their original bag - and some things are in click/lock boxes often still in their original bag (no point muckying up the inside just for the sake of it).

Now that really is sensible advice :rotfl::rotfl:

I wont be rushing to put everything in jars have to say but if I see any nice ones I may invest

I thought i'd be on my own with my views on the smell and taste of roast dinners and stews etc...appears to be more common than I thought, even amongst meat eaters.

I too hate the smell of deep frying oil for chips...another thing that clings for dear life onto any bit of fabric it encounters!

I decant most things into jars or lock n lock type boxes, for the simple reason that my hands have frequently gone into spasm just as I've picked something up, and I end up with my fingers pushing through - for instance - the flour bag. I don't get this problem with something "solid" like a jar or a plastic box.

Evening all, I have a real notion for fishfingers tonight and of course I don't have any (and no one to send to the shop):( I've added some to my shop for tomorrow so with all the chat yesterday about sausages I think that might be the second choice :D Swithering between cumberland or venision I'll see which ones I can put my hand on first- definitely want mash and gravy so will use up the LO onion and do something or freeze the LO sweet potato tomorrow. It's freezing and blowing a gale so a night for a comforting dinner. Not sure about veg probably mushrooms and broad beans. I still have a mushroom mountain after last week's generous sub in my order so will need to get some of them stashed in the freezer:)
